Friendly welcome. Hotel parking at extra cost. Double room under roof. Quite spacious and clean with small bathroom. TV and Internet in room. Breakfast was unexciting with fresh fruit offered one morning but tinned fruit the next. Only toast and no fresh bread but croissant or similar. Cereals etc all in packets. Did not eat in hotel for dinner.

Just got back from a day and night out in York! Weather fantastic lovely sitting at the many pubs down the canal. Location if hotel fantastic for shopping and going round the pubs. Hotel quiet and comfortable. Breakfast had everything to offer but it was bland. The bath had a handful of small areas of enamel off.

Always with reviews a balance has to be struck between being over 'picky' and viewing amenities through rose coloured glasses. So trying to be even handed on arrival the welcome was not as stated in the leaflets "A warm welcome awaits you at the Queens Hotel" I was decidedly cool and my party of four all felt a slight disappointment at the off hand treatment. However the lifts worked fine (with the exception of the disabled lift, which was soon repaired) The room was clean, with just a few rouge spider webs, downside was the bedside light that fell of and the TV stand that didn't, also the card locks proved something of a lottery as to whether or not they would work with many trips back to reception to have then re-validated. Care was needed in the bathrooms as the water was VERY hot, hot enough to potentially scald a child. Notices need to be provided However on the credit side a personal tribute must be made to the lady who was in sole charge of the breakfast room and to everyones amazement enabled 40 /50 to take breakfast
she politely asked people to wait in the lounge whist she cleared and re-set tables the called them through she deserved a medal. (This took place on Tuesday 13th May) The breakfast when seated was fine, the housekeeping staff were very personable but reception.......
Conclusion: very good location all major tourist targets within 25 minutes walk, no major issues just bare in mind the above

Room Tip: The hotel seemed well insulated against external noise we were on the second floor which was fine, r...

A very nice hotel, no frills, I would compare it to a premier inn or travel lodge, theres no character, but the room we had was all we could have asked for, a big flat screen tv a lovley comfy bed and a view over the river.I cannot comment on the food we chose to eat out, lots of lovley places near by to suit all budgets

Room Tip: Ask for a room over looking the river

We got a very good deal on our room which included food. The room was comfortable, large and apart from grouting mould I had no complaints. The food included in the deal was not well presented or served and I was glad I wasn't paying full price for it.The following evening we chose to eat out of the hotel even though the food was included which speaks for itself really. Having said that the breakfasts were tasty and we had no complaints about them what so ever. The location was fab, overlooking the river (although our room did not have a view) and only a short walk into the City and its attractions. Would I return? Yes to sleep and for breakfast but definitely not to eat an evening meal.

We have just returned from our third visit to the hotel, and was not disappointed. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is excellent, and good value for money. If you are looking for a nice hotel at reasonable prices, this is the hotel for you. We have booked to come again later in the year.

Room Tip: Book a room with a river view, as they are large and sunny.
