I dont know if the complainers of nightime noise were in a different qeens but we have just spent 5 nights in rooms 66 & 68 with views of river and we heard no noise whatsoever from the riverside bars or nightclub. the rooms were large and spotlessly clean, yes we paid a superior room supplement but for the view alone it was worth it. The meals at breakfast and dinner were very nice and reasonably priced. The staff as a whole were extremely helpful, friendly & efficient especially the night manager I thnk his name is guillemo. We cant wait to go back there again.

We arrived by train the hotel is very close to the railway station and even closer to the town centre. Very friendly hotel clean it is in the middle of having the reception decorated which some people moaned about but we all have to decorate !!! Breakfast was delicious and the bar has a great view over the river .The bar opposite called Lowthers cooked home made bar meals which were delicious .We didn't have a problem with noise but it was Monday night we stayed . All in all a fantastic trip to York

Booked this hotel through superbreaks for £80 inc breakfasts for myself and my wife. This was Superbreaks 3* mystery hotel, although we knew this before booking thanks to the help of google.
The location is excellent, a stones throw from the river, bars, restaurants and shops in York.
We booked the car park in advance and £10 is not bad value for the location.
Our room (71) was on the third floor, and was more of an attic room with a view of the river from the window.
Overall the room was fine. There was a 32" Sony lcd tv on the wall, complimentary coffee and biscuits and the bedroom and bathroom were bothrelatively clean (although cleaners...remember to do both sides of the curtains in future). There were no toiletries provided so remember to bring shampoos etc.
Biggest let down to this hotel (as mentioned by a previous reviewer) is the noise on a night time from the bars next to the river. The room was unbearably hot so to get to sleep we had no choice but to open the window. As a result we struggled to sleep due to the noise of the late night drinkers, which seemed to go on until around 4am. If I was to ever stay at this hotel again I would request a room at the back of the hotel, or if not ensure I pack my earplugs.
The fact I only paid £80 for the hotel (which is cheap for Yorks standards) made this bearable.
Breakfast next morning was buffet style and decent.

Used the hotel for the second year running for the York Ebor meeting, great central location, underground car parking but you must call prior to your arrival to book your car into the garage frist.

Hotel is clean and tidy, slightly dated although some work is now taking place to update the reception area's etc. There is bar within the hotel and a small seating area, all the staff were friendly and a good overall service was provided, we did not us the breakfast facility but chose to eat locally in the town each morning.

One good point worth noting was free WiFi for all guests, a nice touch indeed.

On a slightly less upbeat note my room overlooked the river and the bars on the far side, with the window open for ventilation is was apparent that York is quite lively during the small hours of the morning, once the shouting and usual high jinks had finally settled down (around 4.30am) then next noise that could be heard was a city road sweeper and a brewery delivery both just after 6am!! - I would recomend asking for a room away from the river, if not make sure to pack some ear plugs!

Taxi to the racecours is abround £6, all in all a nice friendly and clean hotel.

This is a great hotel to stay for a few nights, its right on the river and next to the bridge which goes straight into the centre of York.
The hotel was standard and clean and thats all we wanted. We managed to get a view over the river which was lovely.
There is parking underneath the hotel but beware if York floods your car will be under water.

Would definately go back here.

The hotel is in a really good location but that's about all that is good about it. Had various problems throughout our stay which I raised with the hotel manager. She is not intersted and is rude, abbusive and basically not interested in guests.
Other staff were abrupt and unhelpful so the problems we had with the room, noise and facilities were not resolved.
DO NOT STAY HERE!!

This is a basic central hotel in the centre of York. Breakfast was adequate and the room clean and has everything that you need. There was a couple of minor clitches. Firstly, my booking had gone missing. Secondly, the shower stuck and I had to be rescued!

If all I wanted was a room in a central location I would definitely stay here again. If I wanted something more exotic or romantic I probably wouldn't.
