“So convenient”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

We enjoyed a family break here.It was so well located. We travelled by car and there was parking available but we then had no need to use the car as York centre and all the tourist attractions were within walking distance. We could just as easily have travelled by train as the station was just 5 minutes walk away. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite,
We had an evening meal and breakfasts in the restaurant in the next door Inn. The food was good value and enjoyable. One minor problem was the slightly slow replenishment of the breakfast buffet but when it arrived the food was good.We will certainly return to this hotel.

5 mins walk from statio so very handy. It's Premier Inn so rooms are basic as you would expect but comfy bed and extremely quiet at night. Very decent breakfast in restaurant next door and there's also a Costa Coffee in the hotel which was convenient. Parking available and friendly staff so no complaints!

This hotel was great value for money. 5 minutes walk from the station and only about a 15 minute walk into the centre of York. Surrounded by plenty supermarkets, takeaways, pubs, etc - an ideal location. Staff so helpful and friendly. Lovely spacious room, large bath-shower room and really comfy bed. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and York itself is beautiful.

Excellent location, close enough to city centre to be able to walk to most attractions within 10-15 minutes, far enough out to not suffer from much noise, having previously stayed somewhere very close to centre and troubled by noise well into the morning. Usual decent quality Premier Inn, comfortable, clean, great value for money. Managed to get in the car park which at £8.50 per 24 hours is cheap for York

A standard premier inn hotel, but a bit worn. Building maintenance in the old parts could be wice, especially in the hall ways. Superb breakfast as allways and service minded, friendly staff. Still a hotel that will take good care of yoyr needs when traveling

Firstly I want to say that I have stayed many times with Premier Inn and will continue to do so. The following is purely my experience of a 1 night stay in early December.

The hotel is perfectly situated in the Micklegate area and is only a short walk into the city centre proper. The hotel has eating and drinking facilities that I am sure are fine but as you are only a few steps from numerous bars and restaurants we never used these facilities.

The problem we has was the room itself...it was clean & tidy and had a good working shower. It was however at the front of the building overlooking the road and although they has installed sound deadening panes across the windows this did not shut out the road noise or the sounds of party goers coming back loudly at 3am!! It also caused the added inconvenience of not being able to open the window and as the room was on the small side we had a rather stuffy night.

On first glance the bed was great and absolutely huge but when you lay on it it became apparent that it was two beds joined together and as such had a rather uncomfortable lump running down the middle.

the hotel chain has a Good Night Guarantee and some of you reading this may wonder why we didn't speak to the management about the issues, the answer being that the only solution was for them to have relocated us to another room however when checking in we were informed as part of general conversation that the hotel was fully booked. Complaining at would have achieved nothing other than creating extra work for the receptionist, had we been staying longer then I would probably have made more of an issue of it.

As a point to consider we have previously stayed in this hotel and our room was situated in a annex at the rear of the hotel mentioning this when booking may be the way forward...it is certainly what we intend to do on our next visit.

Room Tip: Request a room in the rear annex

Stayed for two nights with a super saver rate and judged against this, it was an excellent stay.
Great double room( the beds are that comfy), digital tv with good quality pic, hot shower and coffee making facilities( bring your own biscuits).
I was in an annex out to the back and had to walk in and out of 2 buildings to get to breakfast in The Longboat but I actually enjoyed the novelty of having to do that.
Staff are all excellent and a credit to Premier Inn with the lady managing the restaurant displaying excellent customer relation skills.
Thoroughly recommended.
