Recently had a 3 night stay in the hotel. Booked as a last minute and wasn't disappointed. The room was spotless and spacious with a kitchen, fridge, microwave everything if you wanted self catering. We stayed bed and breakfast and enjoyed a great choice at breakfast with as much as you could eat that kept you going all day. The staff were very pleasant and attentive to all your needs. The hotel was in a great location, within walking distance to the city centre and had car parking facilities. Would definitely recommend this hotel and we hope to have another fantastic stay on our next trip. A real gem.

We stayed at the end of October and had a fabulous time. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff! It was pure luxury slipping into the hot tub when it's cold outside! The breakfast was delicious, probably the nicest I've had in a long time! I had my two daughters with me (5 & 7) and they were also made to feel really welcome. They even asked me if they could stay next year for the whole six weeks holiday!

We stopped here for one night en route to London when we could not go any further as the trains were not running due to storm damage.Hotel staff were helpful and pleasant. The rooms were spotlessly clean and it is a great central location for York City Centre yet located in a quiet street just a few minutes walk from the train station.

Fantastic choice. Located near railway station and city centre. Friendly, helpful staff.
Had a great family room with our own kitchen. We will definitely come back here and would thoroughly recommend.

We've visited Hedley House before and they've never let us down on friendliness, helpfulness and making us feel at home. I was meeting up with my pen pal of 30 years and her daughter here, and just a little thing like having our rooms next door to each other, was a really nice touch. Even though the hotel was full, the staff did everything to welcome us all and to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. When I come to York, I never stay anywhere else. What's the point when the rooms are spotless, the staff are wonderful, the food is delicious and the hotel is only 10 minutes from the Minster? Thank you to everyone at Hedley House for all your hard work.

Room Tip: Just ask in advance and they'll do all they can to help you. (All the rooms are good!)

The location of this gem of a hotel is second to none, less than five minutes from the minster and the walled city of York. The room we had was on the top floor, no lift but not a bad walk up the stairs, the room itself was fantastic, small self catering apartment, massive bedroom, kitchen dinning area and a bathroom all kitted out well and ultra clean. We want to come back here ASAP and recommend it to anyone who wants to visit this fab city!

We booked this hotel as we love York, this hotel has no lifts so if u r disabled it wouldn't be for you! The reception staff when we booked in on the Sunday night was very friendly, helpful n show us three ways to get into York ,which is a ten min walk,e even told us what time the gates of the museum shut, cos that's a way to get into the centre,he carried our bag upstairs the three flights,he couldn't do enough,he should be on the desk every day!,we had upgraded to a better room, which we got a room with a double bed and two singles for two of us,other beds were ideal to put our clothes on,lol,we could see the minister from our room with being on the third floor, the room was cozy, warm and clean, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate facilities were great, breakfast was good, four different cereals, granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, grapefruit, prunes n pastries were available ,as well as a English,if you are dieting they accommodate too, there is one waitress who can't do enough for you, asking if u want sauce with your breakfast, extra toast,or tea n coffee, and very polite, nothing to much trouble for her,she is the English waitress we long brown hair that was tied up,only downside to this hotel is that there is no wifi in every room, you can get it in the lobby ,but with people coming in all the time as it was very busy it gets cold,I'd recommend it to people,if another offer comes on we will stay again,as I wanted to try their evening menu,we ventured into York to eat but I'd wish we had eaten there on one of two nights we had stayed

Room Tip: Nice hotel not ideal if you can't go upstairs but rooms on lower grounds
