Went for New Year and stayed 3 nights staff were friendly especially Sarah who could not do enough for us during our stay. Brilliant meal on NYE and plenty of choice at breakfast. Room was clean and bathroom very spacious the only negative was the storage space in the triple room that we had booked was very limited. Great location approx. 5 mins walk from The Minster. Would recommend and would definitely stay there again.

Me and my partner decided to go away for New Years rather than buying presents and what a brilliant idea! The staff are faultless, so warm and welcoming, the receptionist as we checked in was fab, even served us for our evening meals, no complaints on the staff front at all. The room, we had room 3 (deluxe room) and although it does look over a rail track, don't let this put you off because unless you are a very light sleeper the noise is nothing!! The room itself could do with a bit of a bit of a refurb as there was a small hole in the wall near the bathroom, but seriously nothing really to complain about, just being really picky, it was spotless too, for such high ceilings I was expecting maybe one or two cobwebs but nothing, completely spotless. On the room, the bed: WOW!!! The comfiest bed I have ever slept on, I didn't even want to get out of bed on a morning so comfy!! The room was cold (as people have mentioned) but as explained in the hotel booklet, the heating is on a timer, and when the heating was on, it was more than warm enough. All in all the hotel was excellent, would definitely stay again!!

We booked a family room on the top floor( due to the late booking for new years eve we only needed a double bed) we were some what disappointed to find the room cold and in order to access wi Fi we had to sit on the stairs or go down 3 flights of stairs and sit in the lounge.we expected to pay over the odds as it was new years eve but for £151 we did expect more substantial facilities.room was clean enough but bath room did need a bit of tlc.when asked about cold room we were promptly visited by a member of staff who turned heating on early for us(6pm in the middle of winter doesn't seem early?) it took about ten minutes to start working and didn't really have much effect.bathroom radiator was never hot.location was very central and close to great shops and pubs.breakfast wasn't included in our price and we didn't feel like paying £16 extra for it.

My partner and I stayed here last weekend for our anniversary. Great welcome from the receptionist who was very helpful. The room itself was very good - very spacious, clean and decorated to a high standard. The en-suite was a good size and again, very clean. The only negative was the shower curtain which was a little smelly but this is to be expected from a lot of usage. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable; clearly a very good quality mattress. The bedding was so soft and luxurious - I'd say it was probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. The breakfast was lovely. I have nothing negative to say about this hotel but do have a couple of suggestions - 1) a shower screen would be better but this wasn't really an issue for us as we do understand that shower curtains are hard to keep fresh. 2) It would be good to cater for people with dietary requirements - I am gluten free and had to miss out on the toast at breakfast; just having some gluten free would have been fab but again, not really an issue.
We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: I think we had the superior double - absolutely lovely.

We recently stayed for two nights on a KGB deal, I was a little concerned after reading other reviews that the rooms would be small and very tired but this wasn't the case. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with a lovely shower. The hotel was generally very noisy though with creaking floorboards and doors which was a little irritating at 7am after a late night but it's just one of those things. I thought for £99 it was excellent value for two nights. The hotel is conveniently located for a stroll into the city centre and offers parking for £5 per night which was handy. We were kindly allowed to leave our car for a few hours after check out at no extra cost. The deal included continental breakfast which was ideal for me however my partner prefers a full english which could be purchased for £4.95. My only criticism is that a much better value cooked breakfast is available in town which we found out on our second morning when we overslept and missed breakfast. We were able to purchase two full english breakfasts with hot drinks for £10 at The Cross Keys pub and it was delicious and much more generous than what was offered at Hedley House for a very similar price. The service in the hotel was excellent very personable, friendly staff. I would not hesitate to rebook and probably will stay at Hedley House again in the future.

Room Tip: There is no lift so if you have trouble climbing stairs you may wish to request a lower floor.
