Just spent a 4 night break in York at the Hedley House Hotel! The staff are friendly and can't do enough for you. The room was clean and nice and comfortable and adequate for our stay. The hotel is situated very close to the main city and in walking distances from the station and all local amenities. Breakfast was excellent and value for money. The sauna and jacuzzi is an added bonus, we spent a lovely time relaxing with a bottle of wine.

Stayed at hedley house for two nights 20th-22nd aug, the hotel is in a great location just a 10 min walk to the minster right in the heart of york, found the staff really friendly especially laura who booked us into a lovely place to eat as soon as we arrived which was much appreciated and also mandy who booked us a few rooms for new year because we are returning, the hotel is clean and spacious we had a lovely room with everything we needed including iron and ironing board tea and coffee making facilities a nice bright clean bathroom with a powerful shower flat screen tv and the most comfiest bed we have ever slept in i wanted to take it home, we did'nt have a breakfast because were not early risers so cant comment on that but we really enjoyed our stay at hedley house we highly recommend it, thank you.

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a lovely time, the staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. It was a great location, with a short walk into York. The food was really good. One night we booked the spa and sauna and it was lovely. The car park was a bit of a squeeze to get into, though we have a huge Series 5 BMW and once it was in we didn't use the car until we left, so not really a problem. When going to York again we would definitely stay here!

Room Tip: All the rooms are accessed by stairs and there are no lifts, so you need to be aware of this when bo...

Literally a two minute walk into York. No need to take the car anywhere.

The hotel is clean and our room was light and airy. We were on the top floor which we knew about upon booking. Just take note there are a lot of stairs to the top floor, so if you are not agile this floor would not be advisable.

Nice choice of cooked and continental breakfasts. Cooked breakfast served quickly and nice and hot.

Only downside was fire escape for top floor. I asked about fire escapes as we were taken upto our room (having read a previous review on this hotel) and even though I was informed on approach to our room it was on our floor, we didn't find one. However, fire escape instructions are displayed on the back of hotel room door. Also, upon looking from the rear and front of the hotel I couldn't see any obvious external escape route. I raise this concern as our room is termed a 'Family Room' and this would concern me f I had small children.

I would recommend this hotel for its convenience and central location. The staff are friendly and we enjoyed our stay. If we were to stay again I would ask for a lower floor only because of my concerns mentioned above.

Room Tip: Top floors not advisable for elderly, or if you are not great with stairs, and young families due...

We sayed her for one night 24th August after being told at the Holiday Inn Express on Malton Road that our booking was not on their system. We are so glad !! This hotel was about five minures from the centre of York, well placed for all the attractions of this wonderful city. The lady on reception was exeptional, she made us feel like we had known her for years, and wnr out of her way to make us welcome. The room was large, clean and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast choices were vast, and when it came was perfect. Will definately stay here again when visiting York.

Room Tip: All rooms okay as its on a quiett street - They haea large car park

I have been waiting to see how the "hotel" would handle the fact my car got scraped in their car park but I've been bitterly disappointed after promises of contact and copies of CCTV footage of the car park, I have heard nothing. I have now got to sort out the fact my car needs paint on the bumper. My husband and I have chased this and they are just not willing to help (even stating that they "can't be bothered" to sit and watch the CCTV footage in order to help us), it's as if the words customer and service don't exist, especially when you consider they charge for "secure parking". I have waited a month to be fair, to see how they would handle the issue but after giving contact details and chasing so many times it seems futile.

They do not help with bags, there was no attempt at any rapport with us as paying customers until we were checking out. When checking in we were told to move our car straight away to their car park and there was no offer of help with bags at all.

The cooked breakfast is good but housekeeping is lazy, it needs a good dust and all the furniture in our room needing sanding and revarnishing. The stairs didn't seem to get vacuumed, there was a dead bug for three days straight on the stairs so I can't imagine the state of the bathroom which is luckily hidden by poor lighting.

The room overlooked the carpark and was very hot and stuffy, we had to ask for a fan but it did little good being the smallest desk top fan we've ever seen.

We came back to the hotel around 6pm the first evening and people were eating their evening meal in the reception area which we felt was quite intrusive for us to be traipsing through and strange considering they had a lot of dining space available to them.

Hubby says he thinks "you'd get better at a chain like premier inn and probably get a cleaner room with better customer service."

I'd not recommend it and would never go back after the experience which is such a shame, it had a lot of potential.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else. Don't park here.
