This was our second visit to Hedley House and it was just as enjoyable as our first stay. Room was a good size and bed extremely comfortable. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and would thoroughly reccomend a meal in the restuarant. Only 10 minutes walk into the centre so great location.

I have visited the Hedley on a number of occasions and it always my first choice when staying in York - whether business or pleasure. The rooms I have had have all been spacious, comfortable and clean and the restaurant offers a menu that you really wouldn't expect in a hotel this inexpensive to stay in.
Business seminar accomodation is great with a realaxed, friendly atmosphere with the staff all very keen tot ensure that all your requirements are met.
I cannot speak highly enough of the ladies who seem to tag the management of the hotel but all of the staff are fabulous with the owners actively getting involved and interested their guests

Stayed with mother and sister in triple room. Room was comfortable and spacious enough for 3 people. Excellent breakfast and very good service - staff were cheerful, friendly and helpful at all times.

We have visited York 5 or 6 times over the past year while our daughter was studying there. How lucky we were to find Hedley House on our first visit - we have never wanted to go anywhere else! The location, just outside the city walls is perfect - just a short walk to the Minster but very peaceful. The rooms are spotless, the beds comfortable, the service friendly and the breakfasts fantastic. We have always been made welcome and look forward to visting again very soon.

Stayed here for a long weekend with my boyfriend. Service was fantastic from the very start. I received an email straight after booking with directions to the hotel which were great - we easily found our way from the the train station !

The hotel is about a 5-10min walk from the city centre, doesn't take very long at all! We stayed in the building one down from the main hotel on the 3rd floor in a lovely, quiet room with sky lights, a clean spacious bathroom and a very comfy bed. We had breakfast each morning which was really lovely - you could choose whatever you wanted (full english or just the bits you want) and the staff were always very friendly.

I'd definitely recommend this hotel!

Travelled with my elderly mother and teenage son and booked a family room with one double bed and two singles, lovely big room, on the front, thought it would be noisy but very quiet street. Beds amazingly soft and large bathroom, very clean. Only stayed one night as attending a show at the university so didnt have dinner in hotel, had a late lunch in Oscars in the town, which I would highly recommend. Lady who checked us in was really friendly and helpful and gave us directions on how to walk into town through the park which was quick and a lovely walk. Shops amazing , taxis so cheap compared to where we live near Gatwick. All taxi drivers , except one, were so friendly and chatted to us about the history as we travelled about, and we used a lot of taxis. We stayed in a part of the hotel which is not attached, a separate house two doors down which was great as we had our own front door key and didnt get any hotel noise. Had a great day and a great nights sleep, breakfast was gorgeous in a lovely light room looking out onto the front with a large bay window, breakfast stopped at 9.30am which was a tad early for us as we had a late night so 10.00am would have been better but breakfast well worth it. We will definitely be going there again and soon I think, if not just for the shopping.

I was delighted with the convenience to the city. York requires a lot of walking as cabs are not present in the inner city due to it being mostly a pedestrian area. However, from Hedley House its just a short walk across the Museum gardens and you are in town.
Although the decor of my room was basic, it was very spacious and had great proportions...huge-sized room, high ceiling, enormous bed, giant wardrobe, big flat-screen tv and a large bathroom with a bath, which I love on holiday when I have time to soak. The bathroom had recently been updated but the room looked tired. The spacious size however plus the price compensated for the decor. The bedroom lighting was poor but maybe that was due to the size of the room.
It did not have the romantic boutique hotel touches...scatter cushions on the bed, quality linen, goodies in the minibar, chocolates on the pillow or french toiletries. Nor does it pretend to be this. Conversely, Hedley House does have a top location, great value for money and best of all the staff are all very friendly and helpful. I was there a week on my own and they were very attentive and helped make my stay very enjoyable. Another bonus was the restaurant facility which means you can get a decent meal if you want a night in. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.
