Very pleasant spot to sit in the sun and have a refreshing jug of sangria and very generous tapas at very reasonable cost. The coffee is great also.

Far enough from the busy pubs and restaurants along the riverside of the Ouse in York, you’ll find this little cafe which is worth a visit. Hidden in a beautiful listed building, this tower hosts a fantastic and quirky cafe-bar.
The tower room is really cosy and warm on a rainy day and the delicious smell of scones freshly baked gives you the feeling that you are at home. Or, on a sunny day, you may want to visit Dyls and sit on the lovely terrace with river views; ideal for having a drink while you enjoy the sunset on a summer night. Don’t miss their homemade cava sangria!
If you really are a coffee lover this is your place: perfect cappuccino. Not too hot to burn your tongue, with silky foam in a shape of heart as a final detail. Sandwiches and tapas are very tasty, milkshakes are to die for, but the star of the show is without a doubt the giant scones. Fruit, apple and cinnamon, dark Belgian chocolate... I can almost taste them again in my mouth!
Excellent and friendly staff, always welcoming you with a smile.

We happened upon this gorgeous café while walking by the river on a recent city break to York. The day was gloriously hot and we were having a stroll before heading into the centre to find somewhere lovely to sit outside and eat in the sunshine. We found Dyl's right there on the river!

Beautiful location, and we were lucky enough to drop on at the right time to secure an outdoor table (after some rearranging of furniture). The outdoor area is small though, so we were really lucky to choose the right time, as lots of people after us were turned away - it was such a nice day that everyone wanted outdoor seating!

Food was great - we went for sandwiches and lighter options, but the tapas coming out to other tables looked delicious too. The service was fantastic, and for such a good location and excellent food, the prices were very reasonable.

A hidden gem.

A fantastic little cafe in a delightful position near the river. Had lunch here with a friend and we found everything was of a very high standard. The staff are very friendly and attentive without being intrusive and were also very helpful and informed when we asked about the wines and food on offer. We finished off with a coffee which is one of the best coffees I've had.
Would certainly recommend this little gem to everyone.
