Despite the best efforts of the weather with snow and rain. The warm welcome we recieved made us feel at ease and settled us in for a great break. The location was fantastic and close to the city as described within easy walking distance. We managed to see all the attractions we wanted to visit and eat rather a lot at Bettys tea rooms! The property was clean and well furnished and the layout suited us with 2 teenage boys sleeping upstairs and my wife and i downstairs. We would recommend the property to a family or a pair of couples.
My son wanted to meet with friends at the Viking Festival and thought I would drive him down in the morning, hang around and do my own thing, then drive him home when he was finished. I thought a road trip with a friend for company was a much better idea!
Booked into the New Walk Coach House. Process was simple and straightforward, and communication with Sue went without a hitch, again, straightforward and helpful.
We arrived in the early evening and found everything exactly as described. Accommodation is of a high standard and was perfect for our needs, affording the 3 of us our own space and comfort.
Welcome pack was a lovely touch and again, much appreciated. No need to bring anything or to run out and get things .
Location was perfect for us. Nice restaurants and pubs in easy walking distance and an easy walk along the river into the centre.
The street is narrow and with parking on both sides I hope you don't have a wide car or alternatively you're a confident driver. Once you're parked though you don't need to move till it's time for home.
I would definitely return to the New Walk Coach House.
We are a family of 4 and stayed here for a couple of nights.
What a great place to stay, in this cleverly converted Coach House. Lovely walk into York centre along the riverside walk, just 5 mins or so. Parking outside (with permits). House was really lovely, clean, and tidy, with everything required, including oils, spices, tea coffee etc, including a welcome back of bread, milk, butter, which was a lovely touch.
Cosy and warm, with supper comfortable beds, and modern bathroom. TV, with a selection of videos, and games to entertain, and a dishwasher also.
Sue and Roger were charming hosts, with excellent communication throughout.
We would love to come back and stay again, and will definitely recommend to others. Thank you Sue.
Lovely house in a great location. Very clean, Everything you could possibly need for your stay. Great having access to the laundry next door. Hot showers in the modern bathroom. Easy parking on the street. Short walk to city along the river.
The New Walk Coach House is a fantastic apartment in a great location in York. It is warm and comfortable with everything you need for a lovely stay. Plenty of space for four of us and loved the extra touches like the welcome pack, plus a good selection of games - it's like a home from home!
Loved the private outside space in the small courtyard too.
We walked into York along the river which only takes around 10 minutes. This is a lovely part of the city.
Sue is a great host and she was friendly and helpful from the moment we booked until departure. We certainly hope to return again soon.
My Mum and I stayed here in September 2017 and were delighted with the cottage.
First impressions are important and the listing is a good representation of the cottage. The communication we had with the owner was excellent. She gave us very clear directions to the house and comprehensive instructions regarding everything from parking to wifi to where to eat.
On our arrival, the owner had also left us enough supplies so that we didn't have to dash out for a cuppa. How very kind and it made us feel very welcome.
The cottage is very clean and well equipped with good quality furniture and equipment. Nothing was missing, not even a teaspoon or bottle opener.
We particularly enjoyed eating our breakfast sitting at the table, looking over the gardens to the river, watching the flocks of geese. They were the noisiest things we heard at the cottage all week.
We were very lucky with the weather: heavy rain was forecast every day and we had sunshine. This meant we could take advantage of the short walk into the city centre, along the river.
We had booked to see the show RIP It Up at the Barbican theatre. Would highly recommend the show but I mention this here because the theatre was only five minutes walk from the cottage.
It was surprisingly easy to drive away from the cottage (considering how close it is to the City Centre) to explore the surrounding area. Although, I wouldn't have like turning a big car around in the cul-de-sac that the house is on. We especially enjoyed Harlow Carr gardens and Whitby.
Thank you for a lovely holiday.
