What a disappointment, a large group visited the races the weather was hot we purchased alcoholic drinks and was given plastic glasses, placed our bets, when we tried to leave the building to watch the races we was told that no alcoholic drinks could be taken outside.

At no time did the bar staff say at the time of purchases numerous jugs of PImms that we could not take them outside even with plastic glasses.

The security on the doors informed us we had to watch the races on the TVS inside in rooms that was crammed packed with other people that had no air conditioning it was appalling. The only room that was air conditioned was the restaurant, and guess what you couldn't see he races from there either.
So our party soon turned into a nightmare, we could either drink water all day as that was the only drink you could take out onto the balcony, or watch the races from inside squashed like sardines with no air conditioning. I have been to other race tracks Before where you can enjoy an alcoholic drink that you buy to watch the races that you have paid for. Never again will we go to york races.

Had a great day at the races - we were In the Melrose Lounge - well worth the additional expense. Plenty of space & comfortable seating, it's opposite the parade ring and with its own veranda and tote services at your table, you don't need to move far to experience the atmosphere of the races.
Food I'd brought to your table & waiters bring your drinks - no queuing or waiting around - we had a love day.
I have been to York races before but in the County stand - also good but very crowded on busy race meetings, but the Melrose Lounge is limited to 200 guest so a really comfortable experience.
A great day out & better for picking a few winners!

I attended York races on the 12th July for the John Smiths gold cup, along with 30 of my work mates. We had bought tickets in advance for the grandstand and they only cost £18 great value. We all had a fantastic day, all of the drink and food outlets had ample staff and where clean. I have read that people have said that the drinks at York are very expensive, they are cheaper than Aintree or Haydock!. We all had a brilliant day, even if we did'nt win and would defiantly visit again. Just one little gripe the course commentator was very difficult to understand, but that was the only gripe.

We booked the voliguer package for the Tour de France. Situated on the 4th floor of the Ebor stand, it was not crowded and it had an outdoor terrace overlooking the racecourse. The breakfast was hot and there was plenty of it. The bar prices we reasonable too. The lunch was a choice of 3 starters, then a carvery and finally chesses and desserts. With tea, coffee and water served all day, it was a good day out. We were able to leave the stand and visit the stalls and stands too. Thrre were plenty of big screens to show the race, with some showing the tennis finals too. The telephone booking service for the event was excellent too.

What an occasion, wouldn't have missed it for the world. I was one of the lucky 20,000 that applied and received FREE tickets to see the set off from the Racecourse. Also showed the men's Wimbledon final, and British F1 on the large screens around the course, excellent day with family and friends
