This is and old style b and b which was immaculately clean, the hosts are friendly and accommodating and breakfast was superb, the hotel had no problem looking after our cases after we departed until we picked them up.

Yes they have a room to the side (not the breakfast room as described by the former review) which hosts a range of eclectic paraphernalia which to us only added to the hotels quirkiness.

the dining room was as our bedroom clean and welcoming, we wont hesitate to go back.

My friend and I stayed overnight during the races and paid £45 each, which appears to be the normal rate and not put up for the race. We were very disappointed with the standard. There was only 1 towel in the room and we mentioned this to the lady on reception as we went out in the evening. When we went back up, still no towel... however a rather tired plain white towel had been left on the reception desk. There were no toiletries as you would expect for accommodation in this price bracket, just a partially used bar of soap (yuck) and liquid soap dispenser. The bed linen is 'eclectic'... nothing matches. That wasn't a problem, but again for the price I'd expect to walk into a lovely room. The bathroom door is also unusual, being slatted. So whoever was in the bedroom could hear everything going on in the bathroom! My shower in the evening was ok, but my friend's the next morning was cold; neither of us could work out why.
At breakfast the settings were again ecclectic with little care for asthetics. Despite the price, there were no brands in the cereal range - just Aldi's own. The grapefruit segments put out had sadly gone off - they were fizzy. However, the cooked breakfast was very nice and my request for a poached egg was not a problem. When it came to toast and jam we just had the toast. The jam was past its sell-by and we didn't trust the marmalade (in a container, not jar).
The place was generally clean, but untidy, with bed linen even stacked in the breakfast room, perhaps responsible for their strange odour. A couple who came down to breakfast when there was not a free table were simply told they had to wait in their bedroom. No apologies.
We were able to leave our cases their for the day before we left, but did feel this was an inconvenience.
On a positive side, it is very convenient for the races and was quiet overnight (we had the window open as it was during the hot weather). I slept reasonable well, although the mattress springs were prominent. It's just very overpriced for what it is.

Room Tip: Ours was No 5. You need to be on close terms with your friend in this room because of the bathroom d...
