“So good we went twice!”
Reviewed 10 April 2014 via mobile

Much cheaper than Bettys and in our opinion, the best tea rooms in York! The ginger loaf cake is to die for and it was a great way to people watch and enjoy great value - thankyou!

“Fabulous find”
Reviewed 18 February 2014

After a visit to the Minster and climbing to the top of the tower, we agreed that we had well and truly earned a little treat, so upon walking down the Shambles and going past all the well known chains with long queues (after climbing the tower we just wanted to sit down) we saw the Teddy Bear Tea Rooms, and wow what a little find, ok so at first I had to peruse the Stieff bears at the back of the store, but then on to the refreshments

Very well priced - £7.20 for two teas and two pieces of cake, and a good portion of cake at that!! The lady that served us was very attentive, aware of new customers entering and advising that more tables were available on the next floor; and rarely did I see anyone come down unable to find a table.

Definitely worth stopping off at this little gold mine

“Quaint & Quirky little tearoom on the Shambles”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

Popped in here for a quick cream tea. Prefer to give my custom to the independents rather than Betty's (been there and done that - novelty value worn off)! Good pot of tea and delicious scone with choice of preserve (this pleased my husband somewhat who can rarely get blackcurrant). Small tub of cream which was plenty enough. Excellent service. The tearoom covers the 3 floors above the Teddy Bear shop, it has slanty floors which adds to the character of the place. Would definitely return if back in York.

“excellent cream tea!”
Reviewed 5 February 2014

an unplanned visit to these lovely tea rooms. A cream tea was decided upon, and it was the best choice for us. A lovely pot of tea, (hubby had a fresh coffee...!), a large homemade warm fruit scone with clotted cream and a choice of jam flavour.
Excellent service and a reasonable price.

“Great cakes!”
Reviewed 2 February 2014

A small group of us stopped for tea and managed to squeeze cake in as well. A very quirky place set on three floors above the Teddy Bear Shop.
Service was good and tea and cakes very good - everyone said their cakes were moist and we all had different ones. My only complaint would be that I wanted more cream!
