“Spa treatments”
Reviewed 19 February 2014

At the end of January booked a 30 minute treatment for my husband, head and neck massage at a cost of £35. He had all of 20 minutes, not impressed.
Hotel is excellent, but the dinner is very expensive.

“A luxurious, first-class treat!”
Reviewed 19 May 2013

We visited Middlethorpe Spa in December of 2012 as a birthday treat, and arranged for the full day spa experience, which included full use of the facilities, two hour-long treatments and lunch. I booked the day over the phone a few weeks in advance, and visited the spa a few days in advance to pay for the day, although I was told that this was not necessary and we could just pay on the day if we wanted to. It was an easy process to book and the staff were extremely accommodating with arrangements, including arranging a lunch for a small child and additional visitors who were not attending the spa day but joining us for lunch.

When we arrived, we were given a very warm welcome, and made to feel like nothing was too much trouble. The girls who staffed the spa were welcoming and friendly, and we all felt very comfortable there. Unlike other spas of this type that I've visited in the past, the staff did not feel false or stand-offish - the reception and treatment we received through the day felt warm and genuine.

Our group all opted for different treatments, and between us we had manicures, facials, pedicures and massages. All were extremely happy with the quality of the treatment they received and were left feeling utterly pampered and relaxed!

Lunch too was very enjoyable, with a good selection of menu items to choose from, and all tastes were easily catered for. As a vegetarian, there was not a great deal of choice for me, but there were options and when the food arrived it was lovely.

Overall this was an extremely enjoyable day, and all of us have resolved to return again in the future. Parking was plentiful at the spa, and most practicalities were covered. The spa was quiet and so we had the facilities to ourselves a lot of the day, but this was probably because we visited mid-week; it's such a pleasant place to be that I imagine we were lucky to catch it so quiet. If you have difficulty with stairs though, you may find accessing some of the treatment rooms difficult.
