Liked: The hideaway was beautiful, peaceful, and the facilities were incredible, better than any other campsites I've stated on. And all for a ridiculously reasonable price too! Barney was so friendly and helpful. All the other campers were nice, not that we were near anyone else, having a corner of a beautiful field all to ourselves! The best selling point has got to be the fire pit outside your tent. Lots of campsites shout all over the place about no bbqs, no campfires, but here, it's been set up for you! Buying firewood from barney or bringing your own, there is no better way to spend the evenings than chatting round a campfire toasting marshmallows and looking at the stars. The toilets, showers, pot washroom, warm drying room, freezers, book swap, everything is incredibly clean and well working. The atmosphere is friendly. It's well placed for a drive into York, or a bimble up into the the moors. Or just a stroll down to the local pub for tea. I cannot recommend this place enough! We'll be back :)

Just returned from another great stay at this lovely campsite. Perfect for a relaxing break as this is a quiet, family friendly site in the middle of beautiful countryside. Lots of room around pitches and no cars next to tents; this together with the fire pits really make this a special place where you will want to return again and again. Going back in September and looking forward to it already.

Stayed in an Eco pod for 2 nights at the start of August! Loved the site, showers spotless and modern, bed comfy, and we will be back with friends! Loved parking away from pod kept the site safe and though we don't have children those that did clearly loved it! My favourite part was making a fire in the fire pit, romantic at night to see everyone sat round chilling out! Stay away if you are a rowdy camper!!!

Just back from a 2 night stay at The Hideaway and what a lovely campsite it is!

Barney was very friendly and helpful! The toilet/shower block was very new and immaculate...with dressing areas attached to each shower and even 2 personal sink cubicles. There is a small shop inside the reception which sells a few toys, drinks, etc plus fire wood since each camping pitch has a fire pit. We stayed on an EHU camping pitch but there are also bell tents and Eco pods for hire on site. Easingwold is worth a visit as it is a very very picturesque village with plenty of places to eat and drink.

As usual for me I enjoy a camping site that doesn't have a lot of facilities so if you want a bar or children's play areas then this isn't the site for you, but if you are looking for a friendly small site where you can toast your own marshmallows while sipping locally produced cider (also for sale on site and produced in Husthwaite from the apples grown by the village residents) then you will love this site!

It's also a great base for exploring York (with a park & ride a few miles away)

What a truly fantastic camp site this is. The facilities are clean, spacious and well thought out. The pitches have plenty of room, all looking
the huge central area, so kids can run free, but stay in sight. The addition of open fire pits makes this just about the perfect place to camp.

I would beg anyone thinking of going here to play loud music, get drunk and be noisy, please, find somewhere else to go, there's loads of choice. Leave this place for people who want a few quiet beers around a fire, having a chat and watching kids being kids, without worrying about cars, or other dangers.

In the area there is loads to do, although I'd avoid the Easingwold Maize Maze, it may be half the price of the one at York, but I guarantee its less than half the fun.

If you want to dip your toe in the water, without the hassle of setting up camp, then the economy pods or bell tents look pretty good value too.

We have just had a week here, but will definitely be back for more.

A hidden gem of a campsite, everything you need and more. We have now stayed 3 times and are considering getting married there next year. The owners are very helpful and nothing is a issue. Not much more to say apart from FANTASTIC and we will see you soon.

Have just returned from the most amazing wedding at The Hideaway, from the moment we arrived with our caravan the staff could not have been more helpful. The facilities are perfect, providing everything we needed. The wedding was lovely and the venue provided us with all we needed to make the stay perfect. Wish they were allowed caravans all of the time as we would definitely be back :-(
