“Lovely site, great facilities, well run”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

We camped here for 3 nights last week with a 5 month old baby.
We really enjoyed our stay - the weather was fantastic (though we cannot guarantee this!!), the campsite was well run, clean and had fantastic facilities - a shared fridge, a shared freezer, pleasant pot wash, clean showers and toilets, a little shop if you run out of anything, fire pits for every pitch, wood for sale, and enough parking for everyone.
Barney is easy to find, helpful and friendly, which goes a long way to making your stay nice!
It is located right next to a small air strip so you see little planes taking off, and the next door field is full of friendly cows you'll hear breathing next to your tent.

If you don't fancy camping, there are also glamping pods and bell tents for those who don't have a tent of their own - all look really good.

The 11pm curfew was much appreciated, especially since some campers had pretty loud music which got old quite fast!
Overall, a very pleasant place to stay!

Just returned from an overnight stay here, had our own tenat on pitch T3, one of out party WAS an adamant anti-camping ambassador, but the combination of the idyllic location, peaceful surroundings, excellent facilities, not to mention the helpful and friendly approach of Barney left him a self proclaimed camping convert...
The amenities block is excellent, well kept and spotless, even at busy times, the shop is stocked with things you don't even realise you would need (the rose cider especially)
and the overall appearance of the site and surroundings gives a natural feel to the site, rather than appearing purpose built. The fire pit was one of our main reasons for choosing this site, as many sites do not allow fires or bbqs, and can definitely say it did not disappoint, lovely to see all the fires lighting up the sky into the evening, rather than false natural light. We brought our own firewood, but knowing now how large the sacks of wood are which are sold in the shop we would probably buy these in future.
This is an excellent site, and would highly recommend it, cannot wait to come and hopefully stay for longer!!!

Just returned from two nights Glamping in the Bell tents :-) Wonderful location and facilities. Didn't stay on a day when the local butcher visited, but did sample the local apple cider, delicious!! Loved cooking on the fire pit. We didn't come across the excellent local park until it was time to go home :-( Visited the nearby Easingwold Maize Maze. Travelled with our children and grandchildren. Would definitely visit again

We had a lovely time at the site. We stayed with friends and children in 2 bell tents. The facitlities were excellent, clean and well kept and the butchers food was fab! The children enjoyed using the local park and we had a great day out in Helmsley too.......and the sun shone throughout..perfect!

What a find! The site is gorgeous and in a perfect location. Barney was friendly and helpful and our pitch was perfect. By far the best facilities of anywhere else we've been and immaculately clean, it was lovely to have a shower and there be a seat and somewhere to put my clothes where they didnt get wet. Loads of walks right on the doorstep but be aware the pub in the village is currently closed. However we can recommend the wombwell arms in wass and the fauconberg arms in coxwold both of which are dog friendly and welcoming. I really can't fault this site, it has been so well thought out ad we will definitely be back. It was lovely being on a dark site too even though it never got truly dark due to the moon!

4 adults stayed in a 4 man bell tent which came with all the things we needed and the website told us exactly what to bring that wasn't supplied. As far as value for money this place is awesome. Other places I have looked at to go Glamping charge lots more for the same or less. Staff were very friendly. The communal amenities block was very clean. There are site rules but all are relevant and reasonable. The site shop although small isn't expensive and logs for the fire pits are £5.95 a bag which is a fair price. We're looking to go again in September.

I join the long list of people reviewing this site as being outstanding. Regarding the recent poor review I suspect this person had an axe to grind. I stopped for just one night but will be back for a longer stay. I was in my own tent and due to the rain did not use the firepit. The pitch was lovely and the site beautiful. Barney is clearly driven and has high standards. It is probably the best site I have ever been to. The utility block is, as others have commented, simply outstanding, like a hotel. Ignore the reviewer claiming it was wet and unclean- he's talking nonsense.
It's brilliant and I will certainly return this time for longer.
