“Stained mugs, stained spoons, filthy kitchen drawer, stained towels, and dreadful single beds”
Reviewed 10 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

The mugs were stained, the teaspoons were also stained and we had to use a scouring pad on them before we could use them. The towels were clean but, had multiple bleach marks on them. The drawer underneath the oven was disgusting and looked like fried onions had been left in it....this put us off cooking anything in the kitchen at all!
The king sized bed was comfortable but the two single beds were extremely uncomfortable and the springs dug into us so much so that our bodies were sore the next morning. The beds were worn out and the springs were sticking in us. The owner said that the beds were a subjective matter ........however, we did not feel that a worn out bed with springs digging in us was a subjective matter!! We do have photographs of all the above problems should anyone wish to see them!
There was no doubt that when the property was refurbished 3 years ago that it was done to a high standard but, obviously due to wear and tear, and the lack of deep cleaning it is looking " very tired" and shabby. We were originally staying for two nights but, due to the condition of the beds we had our second night at the Travel Lodge where, I might add the springs in the bed didn't stick into us and make us sore. We did contact the owner regarding these issues and sent her the photos.
The owner did give us a partial refund
On the positive side it is very close to the city, shops and other amenities

Dirty oven & tray, rough towels, badly fitting doors, grotty outside table with no chairs, parking if you are lucky, hamper - what hamper ? On the positive side, bathroom, TV and Wi-Fi good.

The house just amazing. When we arrived and checked in it was very cosy and clean. Everyone of us was very impressed and there was a feeling being at our own home. I would recommend a stay fro any family person that would like to visit york. The house is occupied with all the needs and necessary stuffs. Also internet.

The landlord was also very helpful. We communicated through email and she really helped us with all our queries.

The house is so amazing you dont need the pictures. Trust the owner.
Amazing stay.

“Perfect stay just outside the City Centre”

The house is located an easy 15 minute walk from the center of town in a quiet residential area. The house is lovely with excellent central heating, great bedrooms and bathroom. It's very accessible and clearly looked after. The check-in/out process is all very seamless and it's handy having a small supermarket a 3 minute walk away.

One thing that was a slight inconvenience was the Wifi which was patchy and slow.

Would happily recommend the house to anyone, and wouldn't hesitate in urging anyone to go to York- it's an awesome place!

We stayed at 36 Pembroke street this weekend, the house is perfectly located in a quiet area just a short walk from the city centre. If you're looking for a place to stay in York that's clean, comfortable and has everything you would need don't hesitate to book here. The free and ample parking on the street was a huge bonus too!

“Great place to stay”

With two teenage sons, we would have needed to book two hotel rooms, so we found the option of a house rental much better value. Plus the house was warm and comfortable with a lovely lounge, great TV and Internet access to keep the teenagers happy. The kitchen was very well-equipped and there was a washing machine and a modern bathroom . It was also nice to be provided with lovely fluffy towels and really comfy beds with crisp, clean linen.
The house was well situated being just a short drive from the city walls or 10/15 minute walk into the centre. We stayed just before Christmas and it was a nice touch by the owners to put up a Christmas tree (complete with lights). We used to live in York and often return to visit friends and will definitely stay at the house again.
