Stayed here with friends for a weekend. The owners were welcoming and friendly. Hotel was nice, warm, clean and tidy and good value for money.
The breakfast was 1st class and served by pleasent staff who were willing to help.
We had the benifit of room 2 which has a small lounge/kichenette area. This was great as we were with another couple and we used this for a coffee after breakfast and also for a drink when returning at night.
Free car parking which is a bonus in York.
Would we stay here again? Yes, and will do so on our next visit to York.

Room Tip: Room 2 has a lounge with fridge etc.

Stayed here for one night in a double room with ensuite. The room was clean comfortable and warm. It was very cold in York and after a great day shopping and meeting up with friends it was lovely to come back to a warm room and a hot bath. Being able to park the car in the hotel car park and then walk into York was a great advantage. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and quickly put you at your ease. The breakfast was lovely. There was a choice of cereals and fruit followed by a full english cooked breakfast (or choice of any of the cooked items). I went for scrambled egg and bacon and it was very tasty and well cooked. Then there was toast and jams and as much tea or coffee as you want and it was a decent cup of coffee. Nobody rushed us out at 10.00 am. The cost for a one night stay in York makes this a great value hotel and one I would use again. Mark the owner informed me the hotel is to be refurbished in January which will make it even more attractive. I would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: We were booked into room 12 on the third floor and it was good. There is no lift for people with mob...

We recently stay for two night's at the Holgate bridge hotel while visiting york. All the staff were very friendly, the family room was nice, with good bedding and comfortable beds. Bath room good size and clean. for a reasonable priced hotel, with in a 10 to 15 minutes walk to the centre of York it is ideal.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Was told when checking in that their sister B&B next door has just been refurbished, and the Holgate Bridge maybe next to be updated.
Although this place is dated & in need of a refurb, don't let this put you off. It is very clean & lovely and warm.
The breakfast was 1st class. really good selection of cereals. As much drinks & toast as you can eat. I couldn't fault their fry up.
All in all, a decent B&B in a good location.

Stayed for a 3 night break in room on 2nd floor. No lift as building quite old so if anyone is unable to climb 3 flights of stairs I would advise they request a room on a lower floor when booking.
Room quite big with high ceilings, extremely comfortable bed and room warm without being overly so. Although the railway line is quite close we were not disturbed by any train noise. Small en suite bathroom, good size shower but water pressure low. While there was a small mirror on the (dressing) table there was no chair so doing hair and makeup was quite difficult, May I suggest a full length mirror on the wall near a power point to overcome this.
The breakfast was excellent with a choice of cereals, fruit juices and full english or any combination of it, as preferred. Another selling point for me was the free car park, there appeared to be a parking space for each room so you could go out in the car during the day and still have a space on your return, not always possible even in larger hotels.
The owner and staff were extremely helpful, we were given a map of the city on arrival together with a short guide as to where we were in relation to popular sights. A pleasant walk into town but after a full day sightseeing it seemed a long way to walk back, however there a good pubs and restaurants close by so you don't have to go back into town for your evening meal or a nightcap.

Have been here whilst attending interviews in the city. We asked for same room as it was given at a slightly cheaper rate (perhaps as it was empty?) on both visits staff were friendly and genuinely interested in people breakfast was good (i don't remember mushrooms being boiled) and the biggish car park out the back was one main reason as York has very high london type charges for parking if we went back there again which I'm sure we will we'd go back there again :-)

Room Tip: Phone in advance as they were helpful and appreciated a little planning

Nicely locate on the outskirts of the town centre, about 15minutes walk. The room was plain but clean. A good breakfast was provided by good natured friendly staff. For the price we paid it was good value for money. The owner informed us that the building was due for redecoration and improvements in the near future. Would happily stop here again for a few nights.

Room Tip: Most the rooms are up stairs and some road noise it the front.
