Room was great, very close to city-centre. Free parking at the rear was extremely convenient. Staff were friendly and helpful and looked after us for the entire duration of our holiday and really cared that we had a good stay. Breakfasts were special and set us up for a good day each day. Exactly what we wanted on our first trip away together. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed at Holgate Bridge at February half term and once again had a great stay rooms and staff just like all ways fantastic. The breakfast is spot on every time Pasquale the chef is always on hand to make sure you have plenty to eat and always asks if you want any more, the whole B/B is very clean and warm and we always look forward to our stay and find this like a home from home, parking is good due to the huge rear car park.We took our daughter and her boy friend and they did not want to go home,we all so find it very easy to go the short walk in to the city.

Room Tip: We found all rooms good and nice and quiet.

Holgate Bridge is in an Ideal location to visit anywhere in York, Walking distance to the City centre, National Railway Museum and the York Wheel. The Breakfasts were very good and the staff very friendly and helpful and VERY good with my Grandson (7). Free semi-secure parking is at a premium in York, and the Holgate Bridge's car park is off a very quiet back street and very good. My only criticism of the hotel on this site would be that the room I used (14) had tired decor, and was in need of a visit from a handyman, I hope it is due for a bit of a redecoration.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel for a very quiet night and a view over your car in the car p...

Really great B&B, very friendly and welcoming staff with great local knowledge about what to see, especially as we only had 3 days. The breakfast in the morning was excellent, and the room was large, clean and quiet.
We had an lovely time and would definitely stay there again.

Our 2 night stay was a combination of work and sightseeing. The welcome was warm and staff were helpful. Our room at the back was quiet enabling a good night's sleep. It was cold in the room when we arrived but quickly warmed up after adjusting the radiator to suit us. The ensuite smelt a bit musty and it was clear this was due to poor ventilation as evidenced by some moudly marks on the tile grouting. The room although small was adequate but would have benefitted from a 2nd bedside lamp and a mirror in the room itself. Breakfast was cooked to order with care taken by staff to check on personal preferrences. The location was handy and on site parking much appreciated.

my husband and i took our 3yr old grandson for a weekend to york and stayed at the holgate bridge. The hotel rooms were adequate, they could do with a lick of paint but nothing major. We were welcomed when we arrived by a lovely lady called Jeanette who made us feel so welcome and spent a lot of time making a fuss of our grandson and this continued the whole weekend, she was absolutley lovely nothing was to much trouble. The breakfasts were amazing probably one of the best we had in a lot of hotels cooked by a lovely man mr pasceli who came out every morning to welcome you.The other girls who worked there were equally as nice.i cannot stress how nice and welcoming the people in this hotel were.

Room Tip: rooms at the front of hotel were rather noisy as were on a very busy road

We stayed at the Holgate Bridge for 2 nights in February 2013 and was made to feel very welcome and special not just one some staying for a few nights, nothing was to much trouble for Mark and Pascel who always made a point of chating to us at breakfast but had got the knack of not intruding. Holgate Bridge is a 10 minute walk to the Railway Museum worth a visit and York Centre was 15minutes walk but I think you can get a bus outside into the centre, this needs checking, plenty of room on the car park, the room was very comfortable with plenty of tea, coffe, hot chocolate, could not find any fault at all. The breakfast was brilliant no grease on the plate and very enjoyable, all the food was locally sorced and fresh. I had mushrooms on toast one morning, the mushrooms are the best I have ever tasted, got the receipe from Mark but still unable to get the same result at home. would definately stay there again when we are up that way. We have travelled a lot and stayed in different sorts of accommodation rating from 5 star to 1 star this hotel is certainly in the top three, my advice is if you are going to York for a break book this Hotel and you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: We had a double room number 2 on the First Floor which had it's own flat attached very comforab...
