Excellent service from the staff - delicious breakfast! About a 15 minute walk from York Station, but No. 1 bus every 10 minutes from the station - ask for the iron bridge and get the driver to tell you where to get off - it is exactly opposite the Holgate Bridge Guesthouse!

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the lower floors as we needed to climb quite a few stairs to get to our room

This is a great place to stay if you are Diabetic. The staff will keep insulin in the fridge, you can have food in your room or use the dining room and they have no problems if you need to do prick finger tests and jabs at the breakfast table. The chef was great fun and I dare anyone not to feel happier after breakfast served by Pascal . The room was small but tidy and had everything we needed. It was cleaned every day and the beverage bowl was well stocked although we took our own decaf tea and coffee. We had a great stay and will definitely be going back. Thanks to Mark, Janette and the rest of the staff.

Just got back from a weekend in York at the above B&B. Breakfasts were good and cooked to order. We had a basement room - although the shower room was very small, the room itself was lovely and very quiet. Free parking at the rear and about a 15 minute walk into York centre so well placed for visiting and leaving the car behind.

Radiators vibrating. hot water just warm. Toilet not flushed since last guest. Dust all over. Bin not emptied.Sash window not working a wooden block in room to prop it open!!!. Staff running 2 hotels at once leaving no one at reception having to go up the road to get service. Bed need replacing. 3 trips to other hotel to solve radiator problem. Breakfast brilliant. Will not stay here again on the strength of a breakfast.

This hotel is in a good location - only about 10 minutes walk from the railway station and also the town centre. If you are visiting the railway museum there is also a short cut through the back streets which is even quicker.

We received a very warm welcome from Jeanette and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and quiet and the price, for York, reasonable. Breakfast was very good, and nobody minded that we asked to go in a little earlier than the advertised time because we had a train to catch.

I would happily return here in the future.

My husband and I enjoyed one nights bed and breakfast so We could visit York again which We both like doing every year or 2 and this hotel was Excellent. We were received by Jeanette a lovely lady with lots of recommendations about eating places, had a map of York and there were plenty of leaflet at hand on what to do in York. A lovely clean room with a separate big bathroom just across the landing with a big shower. We had a lovely breakfast of a choice of cereal and a tasty all English breakfast by an Italian chef tasty bacon n sausage good quality food. We genuinely had a comfortable warm, with a huge friendly welcome by all staff would definitely come again. thanks Everyone! Xxxx

This hotel is very run down and shabby in parts. The room we had was too small to be a double, and poorly furnished. The 'en-suite' was a disgrace. A sliding door which left huge gaps either side - and the extractor didn't work (no windows). Doesn't bear thinking about! The shower was old and inefficient.
On the plus side, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were OK. The car park was a useful asset (partly why we booked here). Unfortunately that awful room has pulled the rating right down. Obviously, judging by other reviews, they're not all like that. Get it sorted, Holgate Bridge.
