This is the 3rd time we have stayed at this hotel. It is well situated just outside the city walls in a quiet residential area with own carpark.

The rooms are clean, bright and comfortable. The cost per night is very reasonable and you get a full English breakfast each morning.

The staff are all friendly and pleasant.

Stayed here 28/29 July 2014, 1 night B&B. We had a family room on the ground floor at the front of the building, it was a warm night but we couldn't leave the window open for air because of the traffic noise from the busy road, we had taken a desk fan with us which helped and I believe fans are available, free of charge, for use in the rooms if you ask a member of staff (we didn't know before we went). The room was clean and the beds were comfy, there was an ample supply of tea/coffee/hot chocolate etc (inc biscuits) in the room and the accessories in the en suite bathroom were a nice touch, breakfast was very good and plentiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful, the car park is at the rear and there are more than enough spaces so no worries there. As already stated in previous reviews this B&B is at least a 20 min walk from York centre but with a bus stop almost directly outside with regular buses that stop in the centre it wasn't a problem. Of course you can't beat the museums in York, which was the reason for our trip, there are several to choose from and if you want to see them all you really do need at least 2 full days or 3 days would be better if you prefer to take a slower pace and have more time to appreciate the architecture.

Room Tip: Room 1 is ground floor at the front, it is noisy because of the busy road, can't advise about an...

Tasty and plentiful breakfast, free wifi a plus, not centrally located 20/30 min walk from main attractions. Room very dated but clean. We were told we would have to share a bathroom but were not told that it would be on a different floor and quite far from our room so not convenient at all. Shower did not work properly. We would not be going back.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms with share bathroom.

We stayed here for 2 nights. This is the best B&B that we have stayed at in our 1st travels around UK. We would give them 10/10 for nearly everything apart from the shower area needs to be given a better clean, ground floor bed windows need a screen so you can leave them open during the night. Also our room was a bit small for 2 people, but in summer you can sit in the garden, but would not like to stay here during winter for more than 1 night. Breakfast was great, staff are very attentive but you don't see them much. We caught the bus into the city which was very easy to do but do your research before you arrive to where you get on/off in the city. We are from Australia & if we visit again we will definitely stay here. Parking is available included in the price. This was a big plus for us.

Stayed at Holgate Bridge a few weeks ago and just like all our previous visits it was great, the room was very clean with all the mod cons,it is only about 15 mins walk into the centre of York and it has its own huge car park. The breakfast is plenty full and good home cooked produce the staff can not do enough for you and make your stay one to remmember,so all i can say to them is a huge thank you.

Room Tip: All Rooms are good bur i found staying at the back of the B/B was more quiet.

I booked this hotel through a booking site two days before we were going & paid £55 for bed & breakfast. The location was brilliant & it only took us 15 minutes to walk into the heart of the city, there is a car park at the rear of the property which was really good for us as we didn't move the car again until we left (and there were people checking out as we arrived & the owner invited them to leave their car there for the rest of the day while they went into the city & also offered some two for one tickets for local attractions). The room was up one flight of stairs & was very comfortable & clean - there was a huge array of drinks in the room next to the kettle (teas, coffees & hot chocolate with lots of milk, sugar & sweeteners), there was a sink in the room & we had access to a bathroom for our personal use with lots of toiletries etc. All of the staff we had contact with were very friendly & helpful & the breakfast was proper home cooked & tasty. I'd definitely stay there again if I was in the area, the only point I would make - if you have mobility issues or can't cope with stairs, ring ahead as many of the rooms are up stairs & some are on quite high floors. I feel we bagged a bargain - the room was hot during the night, but this was not the fault of the hotel - it was the weather :)
