My husband and I attended Brian Turner Great Yorkshire Dinner
It was brilliant from start to finish
Our first visit to the restaurant and was very impressed with the decor and the position looking over river Ouse we will defiantly be back .
It was a set menu when we went it was great not to have to make our own choices also having something that we would not normally choose .
Presentation was of high standard and the taste to match the food was delicious
As my husband does not drink alcohol it was great for him to have a nice non alcoholic beer
I had the match wine package and each wine was described to me .
A lovely evening well done everyone involved what a team
It was lovely to see Brian Turner and Andrew Pern walking round and taking to people

Enjoyed some of the outstanding special brew beer while enjoying the activities on the river. Will visit again and enjoy the good - could not eat this visit as the good side was closed for a special event.

We had family visiting us in Leeds and decided to spend the day in York. This looked like a superb option for breakfast, so we booked a table a couple of days prior. Upon arrival, the 4 of us were duly ignored by every member of staff who passed us at the reception desk, to the point that my partner wanted to leave. Eventually, the barista took pity on us and came out from his station to seat us.

Having made a reservation, I'd asked for a table in the window to give our visiting family a view. Upon entering the dining area we were told that all of those tables had been taken by walk-ins. So what was the point in booking exactly? The waiter who took our breakfast order (4 people, 1 fussy eater, 1 dietary) took no notes on a pad and consequently a couple of things came out not as we had asked. Nothing serious, but could have been avoided.

The food it's self was good, absolutely no complaints in that respect. We all enjoyed our breakfast, but the experience it's self was a little soured by the service. Again, when it came time to pay, it was difficult to get anyone's attention to get a bill. Eventually, I managed to catch a waitress from a different section who in turn found our waiter.

Such a shame about this place, as we wanted to show off the best York had to offer. Instead, we started our day on a bit of a bum note.

This place is a Michelin starred restaurant. Atmosphere and ambience very good. Service excellent. Quality of the food superb but vfm not so good. Enjoyed the experience but would not return purely on a cost basis

We live in York and have visited this place quite a few times since it opened. Last night was probably our last trip for food. It feels that the food quality is dropping. This time my partner orders the ‘steak sandwich’ at £15/£16. It arrived, some small chunks of steak piled on top of 1 piece of bread. So, ‘steak bites’ then???? My fish was ok. She left most of it as she wanted a nice juicy steak sandwich....For dessert we ordered a cheeseboard. For £12 we received around 5 small pieces of cheese and a few grapes/celery sticks. The slices of cheese were thin, maybe around 7mm wedges. On all but the Camembert we had to trim off the rind on the edge... so half of it basically went that way. We felt a little cheated, as if they were using the scraps on us???? We had spent over £100 on our meal/beer/wine so didn’t feel like we deserved it.
To sum up, I feel the standard of food is falling, it’s a bit pricey for what you get, not worth it really.
Will call again and have a £5.50 lager on the veranda but no more food, better options in York to be honest. Sad really as I think I once said this place served the best steak in York. :(
