Conveniently located close to the hotel we were staying at and a couple of minutes walk from the Minster with a waterside position.

We booked on line (really easy) though in mid week and early evening it is quieter. We had heard good reports about the place and didn't want to miss out.

Were sat in the "conservatory" extension so had a nice view over the rather swollen river whilst the daylight held out.

Our waiter was friendly and helpful, you could have a bit of a laugh with him too. The other staff were just as friendly.

Duck liver was full of flavour and generous with the portion. For mains we had the sea bass and the belly pork. Cooked well, beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. The portions are big. I ordered garlic and herb potatoes as I thought the portions could be small. Those tasted great though the main course was enough by itself. We couldn't manage the desserts though the table next to us had them and they looked good too.

Enjoyed a local ale to start off with followed by a South African Vigonier which complimented the meal beautifully.

Considering the quality of the ingredients, the presentation and flavour of the food as well as the generous portion size, it was well worth the money and will be visiting again when we are next in York

We were 15 celebrating at 21st birthday, and took the ground floor private dining room, screened by a curtain from the main bar area. it was a busy Sunday lunch time but service was excellent, and the food of a high standard as you would expect from a renown chef. All in all a very good experience, recommended.

Food was utterly divine. Seasonally crafted, I had two starters as a main as I couldn’t decide!
Our waiter was knowledgeable and we had paired wine.
All set by the river. Really was special.

Went here today for lunch and it was superb. We have been here before and always had a great experience but it is always reassuring to know that some things don’t change.
Top quality food in a wonderful location with great staff.

We visited on a Saturday evening for my birthday with friends. The food was good, service attentive without being invasive & surroundings impressive, I can imagine on a sunny day the outside area being a great place to eat & drink.
None of my party had any complaints about the food, however nothing really wow'd either to be honest. I found my whitebait starter a little dry & bland, i ended up squeezing my drinks lemon slice over it ! The sauce needed to pack a punch, but unfortunately it was just a basic tomato flavour. My duck main was a little tough & the skin desperately needed to be crispy, again this let the dish down as it wasn't rendered at all, however my chocolate mousse pudding was fabulous.
All in all it was definately acceptable & at just a little over £200 for 4 people, which included 2 or 3 drinks each , fairly reasonably priced.
Other food i saw being brought out looked great (the fish & chips were huge !) so perhaps i just lucked out on my choices. I would certainly visit again if in the area.
