“Delightful, friendly guest house.”
Reviewed 11 November 2012 via mobile

Just returned from another stay at our favourite Guest House in York. Anne & Adrian, the very friendly owners, have recently converted "Conway Cottage" next to Barbican House, into self-catering accomodation & as we were staying for 3 nights thought we'd give it a try. It was tastefully decorated to very high standard. King-size bed in large bedroom. Cosy lounge with living flame gas fire, very cosy. Nice kitchen with everthing needed to prepare meal, not as though I cooked, but did make breakfast! Obviously as it's self-catering breakfast is not included. If you stay in Guest House or Lodge you won't be disappointed with breakfast.
Thank you Anne & Adrian. Hope to see you on our next visit to York.

My friend and I stayed here in September - our hosts were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great - we were especially impressed with the fresh fruit - blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries!! It was very quiet at night so we slept well. In a great spot too - very easy walk into the Shambles and all of the other wonderful places. We had a great time in York.

Such friendly helpful owners with an incredible local knowledge. Room lovely and spacious, the annexe, with lots of drinks and a decanter of sherry! Fab breakfast with lots of choice and pre ordered the day before so it's ready for your sitting. All very clean with everything you need. Good location too, about a 10 minute walk to The Shambles, just on the outskirts of the walls. Great italian, totos, recommended too by the owners. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will hopefully go back. Thanks.

Room Tip: The annexe had a king and a single, a small lounge area and shower room. Down the side street so fur...

The room we stayed in (twin room) was large, spotlessly clean and beautifuly decorated...The beds were comfortable..the shower room was lovely. and the bath towels large and fluffy.......The room had two very comfortable armchairs to sit in and a beautiful marble fireplace, lovely pictures and ornaments...a really beautiful room...The hospitality tray had various teas, coffees and drinking chocolare...plenty of milk, plenty of biscuits...even a couple of bars of chocolate...There was even a decanter of sherry, which was topped up the next day!!!....The lady who ran the place with her husband was extremely friendly.,,Oh and the food was great as well.

Room Tip: Although our room was on the front and the road was very busy the noise didn't bother us at all...

This B & B has turned out to be a great location for anyone visiting York. You can see the Minster from our room and it is an easy walk to the Shambles and City Center. The room is very clean and they include tea and coffee service in your room. The breakfast choices are fantastic. I have ordered salmon and scrambled eggs on English Muffins each day and my husband has had a vegetarian English Breakfast. Loads of fresh fruit and yogurt are on offer also.

A new Waitrose is located within a two block range and also a Morrisons.

Room Tip: Ask for one in the back of the B & B since it sits directly on Barbican Rd.

We were given the Annex room away from main house. Although it was clean it was small and cluttered. We thought we had booked this room to get an extra large bed instead we got a double and a single and no room to move. Tiny bathroom and separate lounge. Nice breakfasts but SO cluttered we couldn't move at breakfast either.

Sorry but this review hardly deserves a response as this customer did not even know the difference a double bed and a king size, the room he booked and stayed in had a king size bed.
