“Another fantastic stay at Premier Inn”
Reviewed 22 April 2012

We had this hotel as a base for our night our an was most impressed with this one. Free car parking, attached to a Beefeater pub with a Wetherby Whaler fish shop next door and only 10 minutes to the city centre (about £10 in a taxi for 4)

The hotel was spotless, even more so than the Blossom Street one in the city centre. The receptionist Barbie was lovely, really helpful and considerate. I had a bit of an incident in the bathroom where a loose panel had fallen onto my foot and she gave me the hotel phone no and asked me to call and let her know I was ok when I got home!

We were on the first floor in room 22, there was a sign up in reception saying currently refurbishing which appeared to be on the ground floor. There was no disruption whatsoever and I can honestly say that if they are going to refurbish the room we were in there is absolutely no need, the bathroom suite was modern and spotlessly clean, we had a 40" flat screen tv and everything was well cared for.

An extra well done to the management and running of this hotel. :)

Room Tip: Room 22 on 1st floor

My partner and I stayed for 2 nights at beginning of April this year. Had a fab time (even got engaged!!!!). Room and bathroom had just been completely refurbished. (They are still in the process of doing other rooms at the mo). Had no bother from workmen whatsoever. Lovely reception staff. All staff in restaurant/bar were lovely too. Food was great. Will def stay here again as perfect for park and ride into York. Def recommend to others

Me and my partner stayed here in April 2012. There were renovations going on but they did not bother us, there was no noise from them.
We arrived at the hotel at 1pm as our train arrived into York at 12.30pm. We went to check, (albeit an hour early but never had a problem checking in early at any other Premier Inn ever before if we have arrived a little early! ) to be told we could not check in before 2pm. The receptionist didn't even check to see if our room was ready! Ok so, laden down with our luggage we had no choice but to sit in the adjoining bar for an hour, where we had a couple of drinks. We went back to the reception at 1.50 to wait to be checked in to find she was happily checking in another couple into their room . Ok so only 10 minutes early but you either check in at 2pm or you don't! Make up your mind.
The receptionist was happily talking to the couple in front being very friendly and discussing breakfast and other things, When it got to us, it was simply, "please fill in this form and here is your key" A little different to the previous guests!

Ok, so the room was ok, quiet and the curtains were nice and thick to block out the light. However there was a huge big gap under the door so you could clearly hear people going past the corridor, which doesn't normally happen! The bed was so uncomfortably hard that I could not sleep in it after suffering such a bad back after the first night, having to kip on the floor. There was also no shower curtain! Seriously Premier Inn???Trying to have a shower (even with the absolute rubbish shower which had no power in it at all, more of a dribble lol ) still caused the bathroom to be flooded, so we had to use our small towels on the floor as a mat to not slip and we also had to put on our shoes to use the bathroom as we would always end up with wet feet! So we then ended up with no hand towels!!! The soap dispenser was also broken.
Petty? Maybe, but all these things add up to create a bigger picture that caused us to be unhappy with our stay with this particular Premier Inn.

Wouldn't stay here again, which is a shame as it is an ideal location with a short trip into the City Centre.

we stayed here 2 nights over easter with our daughter
the lady who checked us in was very pleasant and an easter egg for the kids a nice touch
Our room no26 had a terrible outlook of bricks plus being next to the lifts I found quite noisy and would have asked to change rooms but my hubby said it wasn't worth the hassle for one more night in hindsight I wish I had asked.
we ate both nights at the beefeater attached and found it fine the is an indian chippy and chinese within walking distance if you want a change
the breakfast food was great but sadly the hot drinks are served from a thermos and the water was tepid for our tea, the coffee not much better so both mornings i had to ask for fresh which the girl. said was an ongoing problem that needs changed surely a hot cup of tea is not a big ask!
The location to york was good we opted for a taxi less hassle than the park and ride £12 going with the hotels reccomended company yet only £9 on the way back with one off the rank. also close to the hotel is clifton moor retail park with lots of shops and a cinema/bowling
large tesco etc so all in all a good location

Stayed for one night (Sat night), refurbishments almost complete, (we never saw any evidence of work being done apart from the odd sign on the doors) asked receptionist and she said there were only two rooms left to refurbish now. We were in a refurb room, obvious smell of it being recently decorated. New bathroom, large flat screen TV on wall was a bonus! Otherwise, usual Premier Inn rooms, very clean, staff helpful, extra tea, coffee etc, only have to ask. We took out the Premier Meal Deal - 3 course evening meal and all you can eat breakfast for £22 each - bargain! The eatery attached is with The Beefeater Steakhouse, which was good, service excellent. Two or three other eaterys are located nearby within a 2 min walk if you are not a fan of the steakhouse, plenty to choose from. Would definitely stay at this Premier Inn again, located two minute drive from York park and ride, so easy enough to leave car and go into York as minimal parking there.

Room Tip: Recent refurbishment so all rooms should be perfect soon!

Stayed for one night on family break to York. Rooms were very clean and staff were very friendly and helpful although check in was slow but this was due to booking.com not the hotel. Breakfast was good value as cooked to order and great coffee (costa!) if only I could get it more often in other hotels. Room was well equipped and nice and quiet at night. Volume limit on tv was a nice touch.

It was good value for money for York and the park and ride is a walk away or you could get a taxi like us for £ 12. Would stay again for sure.
