Very clean, very homelike. The room we had (for three) was the most spacious we had during our entire 2-week trip. Dom and Zoe consistently helpful (whole computer printouts of information!) and always friendly and willing to help, despite being obviously busy with the B&B and life.
Location could hardly be better for touring old York - just a few minutes walk from the city walls and about 15 minutes' walk from the train station.

St. Raphael Guest House was a great place to stay in York. The room and breakfast were perfect. It's very close to the walls of the city, just a quick walk through a beautiful garden and you're there for some great sight seeing. Thanks so much Dom, Zoe, and Ollie!

Me and my mum stayed in the St Raphael recently and can't find one problem with our stay. The hosts were perfect, on hand with any information you needed, when you needed it. The rooms was clean and beautifully decorated. The B&B in general was really clean and modern and felt very luxurious. Everything was on hand from a hairdryer to bottled water.
As for location I was slightly aprehensive about the on street parking. However I shouldn't have been, this really is a residential area and exceptionally quiet. It's also a lovely walk into York, about 5 minutes through the beautiful museum gardens.
I would recommend this to anyone visiting York. I hoping we'll be back again soon.

We recently stayed at St Raphael Guest House while my husband researched at the Minster Archives and I visited York. We couldn't have been happier with our stay. The room (Goodramgate) was lovely - light and fresh, very tastefully appointed. There were nice touches, like fresh flowers in the rooms. We especially loved the sunlight streaming in through the window, which we could open to hear the birds. Lovely for afternoon naps. The room and guest house were clean and comfortable to be in - definitely not a drab and dark guest house. We woke each morning to the smell of fresh bread, which was a treat. Breakfast (available with a variety of options, from full English to just yogurt and everything in between) was delicious. Nearly all the food is sourced locally, from the eggs, to the sausage (vegetarian and meat), bacon, down to the jam and yogurt. My husband especially enjoyed the sausage. The guest house is very conveniently located, no more than an easy 10 minute walk to the centre of town, which was perfect for us. It's in a quiet part of town, so we had no trouble sleeping with the window open (which we did due to the beautiful weather). Zoe and Dom are perfect hosts, lovely and friendly. We greatly enjoyed meeting them. They also pointed us to a delicious ice cream shop! When we return to York, we'll definitely be staying here again.

Excellent B&B / Guest House with only a 5-10 minute stroll into centre of York. Immaculately clean, well / modern decorated room with lovely welcoming breakfast room. very good value for money. The breakfast were superb - waking up to smell of freshly baked bread each morning was great. Dom & Zoe (owners) are very friendly but not intrusive - they know the area well and more than happy to help track places to visit. We really enjoyed our stay here and would reccommend it to anyone. A+ guest house.
