Marmadukes is a small friendly hotel about ten minutes walk from the City centre. The room was lovely and cozy and breakfast was great. We also had drinks in the bar after dinner in the evening, which was nice. Just a pity we only had one night here, we will definitely be back!

Thank you for a short, sweet but superb 5 star review.

We are a lovely 10 minute walk away so you are very near to York’s attractions. I love your description of our bedrooms being cosy.

We will look forward to your returning visit.

Kindest Regards

This Is a lovely hotel about a 10 minute walk from the centre of York.
The first impressions were off a water fountain and two old buildings with a cute garden between them. On check in the receptionist was lovely asked us about our day but didn't mention any breakfast times or any other information on the hotel.
We were shown up to our room which was big (ish) and had three massive windows.
The room was lovely but just a couple of things were off which I didn't expect for £149 a night, like the door to the bathroom being stiff and not having a working lock, dirty mirror on wardrobe and peeling ceiling.
Breakfast was served by lovely staff and was good quality.

Thank you for taking the time out and leaving a review for Marmadukes Town House Hotel.

I am pleased your first impressions of us…were cute and that you liked your bedroom. I am sorry that your bathroom door didn’t lock, I have since checked and all is in working order. Some of our mirrors may look stained however this is due to the age and sometimes we really can’t remove these impurities as they are behind the glass itself.

I am pleased to read that you enjoyed your breakfast here and hopefully you were set up for the day. York can command higher rates than people are used to, however I am pleased that you found us at a bargain price of £149 as it can be considerably higher for this beautiful city.

Kind Regards

We were visiting the Yorkshire and our daughter offered us a night for our 21st wedding anniversary at Marmadukes. To be honest i don't think you can find better place to stay in York, this hotel has fantastic decoration, but with modern facilities.

We loved that English style, the bedroom was stunning, bright with lovely furniture, bed really comfortable, perfectly clean. Obviously for this occasion our daughter ordered Breakfast in room for us, we couldn't except better, very complete, with all what you need to start a good day.

We had visited a lot of hotel with my husband and i can tell you that at Marmadukes you are not just a name, your are a guest, all the staff member is truly helpful, polite, professional and friendly. We want to come back in York with some friends and without any hesitation we will book a room at Marmadukes again.
We highly recommend this hotel.
Moreover the situation is a real asset, close to the city center but in a quiet area to have a relaxing night.
We will definitely come back.

Thank you for an amazing 5 star review for Marmadukes Town House Hotel.
We greatly appreciate your wonderful review and it was an honour for us for you to choose us to celebrate your Wedding Anniversary.

You are not a number or another person but yes you are our guests, you make our jobs, to see a friendly face makes our day and even week.

When I right these reviews and trivial things are mentioned which are beyond our control, I sigh and think of new ideas which will benefit future guests or try and see it from various points of view to help make improvements. However when I read reviews like yours, you give us a new energy to keep going above and beyond and ensure one day every guest will be as happy as you have been.

Truly, Thank You.

My mum and I stayed here for a 2 night break and we were not disappointed. The welcome on arrival was warm and friendly and we were able to park the car and drop off your bags before heading into the city for a short mooch and a drink after the journey north.

On arrival back at the hotel , our bags had been taken to our room which we found to be beautifully equipped with wonderful antique furniture in keeping with the building , a chaise longue, a four poster bed and a rolltop bath...wonderful.

The choice of breakfast was excellent and the taxi to the restaurant for the evening meal was welcome but unexpected as we could easily have walked.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone young or old . We will definitely be visiting this hotel again :)

My husband and myself stayed at Marmadukes for 3nights last week....fabulous, the staff from the start made us feel so comfortable, the reception, breakfast staff all so very friendly and helpful. Our four poster room was exceptional. One sunny afternoon we sat in the glorious walled garden for a cooling drink after treading the streets of the beautiful city that is York. Can't wait to come back and left Marmadukes with a heavy heart. We will return..thank you all so much.

My husband and I were on Honeymoon in the UK over Christmas time, and Marmadukes was our choice for accommodation on Christmas and Boxing days. We had spent quite a long time finding somewhere to call 'home' during this period as it was our first Christmas away from our families, and we were absolutely not disappointed. I could go on all day about this hotel but a few highlights for me were:

Service:
* The team were delightful. Even before we got there, the team had contacted us prior to the visit to find out what we were doing for Christmas and made some suggestions on where we could have dinner, and find out what they could do to make our experience extra special.
* They also left us a beautiful note on arrival, welcoming us to their hotel and asking that we let them know if there was anything else we could do.
* On Christmas day my hubby hadn't been feeling well. It was quite cold and I think he'd caught a bit of a flu. As we wanted to stay in and didn't want to go out and search for dinner, the team made us up a plate of nice light snacks that we could enjoy in the hotel rather than brave the weather and go outside.

The building and the rooms
* This is a beautiful older building that is sooo nicely furnished. Immediately we felt at home surrounded by quaint decoration and detail that just made us feel completely comfortable.
* They had also furnished the bathroom with lovely scented bath salts and oils. All of this with the lovely antique tub made having a bath amazing!!! Such luxury!!

The restaurant
* Although they only served breakfast, the food was so divine - they also recommended us another sister hotel which served us Christmas lunch. Again, lovely food and service.

I seriously feel that Marmadukes is the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The attention to detail and the incredible service really made us feel like it was one of the most memorable Christmas times we've ever had. Beautiful. Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time and reviewing Marmadukes Town House Hotel.

My goodness, a long time has passed since then but last Christmas here was a lovely. This was mine and Fran’s first Christmas here and we wasn’t certain what to expect, so to ensure we had all bases covered we bought some nibbles in with everywhere being closed. Christmas in York Is unusually quiet, pre booking your lunch is essential, however if you want to forget about the world this is the place to be.

I am so pleased to read that you thought our bedrooms were nicely furnished and you liked our bathroom Christmas touches.

Well I hope to see you back here for next Christmas when we will get our pack of cards out and are playing charades in the lounge.

See you soon and best wishes.

We stayed here 1 night before stage 2 for the tour de france. We enjoyed our stay, the room was big and clean. The bathroom had a lovely big bathtub! but no shower :( The staff at the front desk were fantastic and gave great recommendations about the TDF and resteraunts etc. Easy to walk into york. Breakfast was also yummy!
