Very nice rooms, comfortable and clean. The breakfast is the best we've had in any B&B, or Hotel for that matter, with lots of choice. The B&B is only a 30 min stroll to the City wall (Also easy to hop on a bus). The pub next door has a good atmosphere and good food (for a chain), most importantly had a choice of real ales ;-)

David &Barbara,
Very pleasant stay with kind owner &beautifully appointed bedroom and dining area.Breakfast
Excellent as we're all the amenities. Would recommend to friends.

No reflection on George but if you arrive from the North on the A19 DO NOT get caught by traffic lanes restrictions through the city centre it will cost you dearly(£60) !!!!

George very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is exceptional, loads of fresh fruit, as well as the full English and even smoked salmon/scrambled eggs. Room was spotlessly clean and well equipped - bath robes, slippers, mini fridge, toiletries etc.
Perfect location for the races - just across the road and over the course. Bus stop right at the door for popping into town without having to bother with the car.

Very friendly owner, both on arrival and during all subsequent conversations with him.
Nice bright comfortable and clean room, and a recently renovated en-suite with a large shower. As you will see from some of our other reviews, I am a lover of a soft bed, so slightly too firm for my liking, but that is more me than the bed!
Breakfast in the morning is absolutely delicious, usual toast and cereals, plus gorgeous fresh fruits with lots of choice, and an amazing freshly cooked breakfast too, one of the best breakfasts I have ever eaten. Tea is served to you by George in a lovely big teapot, and the coffee on the machine is really good too.
You get your own front door key so you can come and go as you please, and the pub / restaurant next door does lovely food for an evening meal, and the real ales on offer in it are very good too.
All in all we can highly recommend Burswood House to other travelers to York.

Burswood Guest House is an excellent place to stay; everything is done to make the guests as comfortable as possible. We stayed in the lavender room on the first floor which had all the amenities that we required. Tea and making facilities, a fridge with fresh milk and bottled water through to dressing gowns and slippers are available. The bathroom was well stocked with all you would require - a very lovely room indeed. Breakfast was superb with an excellent choice. We would recommend this Guest House to any traveller and we will certainly stay here if in the York area again.

Had a lovely stay in this place. Stayed one night but wish I could've stayed longer. Had the Holly room. Room was immaculate and comfortable, had everything I needed, from toiletries to fresh milk and bottled water in the mini fridge. Breafast was yummy and had lots of choice.

Due to a misunderstanding I found myself without a bed for 2 nights after a fruitless visit to the reception of a large hotel chain.A helpful pub directed me to Burswood a few yards down the road. The owner George booked me into the Lavender Room which had a very comfortable double bed and a seating area as well as the expected en-suite. The room and as I found later everything else at the property is very well looked after and well chosen to a high standard. The price was good for what you got which could best be described as excellent and plentiful in every way. The room had a fridge and you got a small bottle of fresh milk as well as bottled water free to compliment the well stocked tea and coffee tray.Breakfast was delicious in a lovely conservatory overlooking the garden with its flowers and wild birds. My colleague stayed at the starred hotel chain hotel - all comparisons gave George a clear victory.
