George and Maureen are a lovely couple who go out of their way to help you. Room/building was immaculate, bed so comfy, everything you could wish for in the bedroom and then an excellent "full English" with all the trimmings! Would not hesitate to recommend.

We're regular August visitors at Burswood, but we managed to squeeze in a short extra trip this month. Having written very positive reports in the past, but not for a while, I thought it worth reporting that George and Maureen are maintaining the highest possible standards to which they have always aspired. If anything the breakfasts are bigger and better than ever and one has to be very firm to resist the temptations of the fullest English breakfast imaginable! We'll be back!

We stayed here in May 2014 on a business/pleasure trip. The B&B is easy to find on one of the main approaches to the city and getting in and out of York from the B&B could not be easier either by car or bus. The first thing we noticed is how beautifully presented everything is with fresh paintwork, flowers and the cleanliness of a well kept ship. Our host was very welcoming and showed us to the garden room which is accessed by going out through a side door and into the room which has its own external door. I would not describe the room as large but it was certainly adequate with a king size bed, plenty of storage and a generous en-suite. Again the level of decor and cleanliness was very high. The room overlooks the back garden and was very tranquil. Tea & coffee facilities, ironing board, trouser press were all in there along with complimentary dressing gowns, slippers, sweeties and biscuits. Breakfast between 8.30 and 9.30 may have been restricting for the business traveler but we didn't make until 9am so I cannot complain! There was a good selection of cereals and fruits on offer. I ordered full English and this was cooked and served promptly and was of a very high standard. Would I stay there again? Yes, no hesitation.

Never seemed to let us down, visited on busy times alongside our recent visit, which was at the start of easter, no extra noise when staying in after a long day, staff very attentive, the breakfast in morning is also always top notch!

We booked into the Lavender room on our recent visit to York. This was a delightful room, slightly smaller than we had imagined but other than that very presentable and had everything we needed. We had a beautiful 3 night stay and the double bed was very comfortable.
George and Maureen made us feel very welcome and prepared breakfast to our specific requirements, almost wished we had more time to spend chatting with them!
All in all a very pleasant stay.

We loved it! George and Maureen were perfect hosts and everything was above our expectations.
Lovely large comfortable clean room. The Orchid room .
Great selection of fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereals for breakfast plus an equally good choice for a perfectly cooked one.
We found the location ideal for our needs. We were able to walk into the centre of York in about 45 minutes.
There is a very good bus service close by but we didn't have to use it.
Good parking and free WiFi were an added bonus.
Just cannot fault the experience at Burswood and thank you George and Maureen for making our stay so enjoyable
