(Not to be confused with Ascot House)
Arrived to a very warm welcome, and a nice pot of tea. There is a car park around the back with plenty of space. The b and b itself is lovely old building with lots of character. Our room was for three, as the doubles were already booked up.It had a double bed, single bed, settee, armchair, and was still spacious. It was all very clean and comfortable. Also, a TV and drink making facilities. All rooms are ensuite, and the bathroom was also to a very high standard. We stayed for two nights over the weekend during December.I really can`t fault the place, the breakast was also very good, with plenty of extra toast, fresh fruit as well as the cooked breakfast.
I would recommend it to anyone. The only disadvantage was that it was a fair walking distance to the centre of York. Asct Lodge is located in Acomb which is about 2 miles out of the City Centre. My partner an I like to walk and so it wasn`t a problem for us.It took about half an hour at a steady pace. There is a bus stop just outside the b and b with frequent buses. We also caught a taxi back a couple of times which didn`t break the bank!
An ideal place to stay if you don`t want to worry about your car, and don`t mind walking or catching the bus into the centre.
PS they currently only take cheques or cash.
