Close to the city centre, so a nice stroll takes 15 minutes. Great rooms, dinner in the restaurant and breakfast is perfect. Comfortable beds, quiet, rooms black out. Has the feel of a country hotel, great atmosphere in the bar a communal areas. Good connection to the main road / motorways.

We stayed there on a special deal, bed, breakfast ,and evening meal basis wich turned to be very good value. Our room was on the ground floor overlooking the garden wich was lovely .The best was still to come, our evening meal was excellent ,we had local crab for starters and fillet steak for mains both amazing ,( got to have their hand cut chip served in paper cone ). The staff were truly lovely ,and very eficient .

We stayed at this hotel for my partners birthday. From the moment we got there to the moment we left we couldnt ask for anything more. There was no £10 parking charges like the other reviews said. Our room was amazing. The meal was fantastic, the breakfast was yummy and the location is perfect. We would definatly be returning for another nice romantic weekend away.

Room Tip: our room was called taittinger (as in champagne) it was on its own up some stairs through the bar ar...

All the hotel staff were courteous, helpful and cheerful; nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent. Room well-appointed and tastefully decorated. A thoroughly enjoyable stay. Priced extremely reasonably (cheaper than a local B&B!).

Room Tip: Avoid ground floor rooms as you'll need to lower the blinds, which makes the room rather dark, e...

Located less than 1/2 mile into York centre, we found this hotel very convenient. We walked in 3/4 times over the 2 days easily. Staff were fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble and there is a lovely relaxed atmosphere about the hotel.

Rooms are to the usual Hotel Du Vin high standards. Air con in all rooms. Classy bedrooms with lovely furniture & 6ft beds, nice linens. Nespresso coffee machines were a nice touch and also bathroom with wonderful rain shower. Public rooms are nicely presented and the food in the restaurant is very good. We were on a Friday night dinner inclusive rate and for dinner we could order anything off the menu for the 3 courses, with a side dish and including coffee. There is a car park at the rear of the hotel which you could fit approx 26/30 cars. Spaces are not marked though, so it depends how the cars are parked how many get a space. Charge of £10 per night we thought was quite reasonable. There is a Sainsburys across the road (with a cash machine) about 100 yards away. Very handy.

All in all, a lovely stay in another Du Vin Hotel.

Room Tip: Road noise could be a problem for some. Ask for a quiet room.

We opted for the standard room with dinner, bed and breakfast included at £139 for two people for one night. Room was a good enough size with a super king sized bed and beautifully furnished. Good sized bathroom with bath and over bath shower. Very well stocked room bar and tea and pod coffee maker provided. Fresh milk provided which was a welcome find rather than awful uht milk. Dinner served in bistro. This was excellent and is honestly one of the best meals either of us have ever had. I had lamb rump and hubby had fillet steak. The quality of service was a joy, the young waiters and waitresses were a real credit to themselves. The only slight downside was that the bathroom cleaning lacked attention to detail. Dusty blinds, streaked mirror and a bit more polishing of taps etc would improve the overall experience. A small critism which clearly didn't spoil our enjoyment. We will definitely use one of the hotels in this chain again. Highly recommended.

The Hotel is an established mature property with excellent interior design rustic wood and leather. An auto open roof central conservatory perfect for Sunday afternoons!. A few minutes walk into York city gateway. Well appointed solid wall rooms. The staff extremely friendly, very professional and helpful. Ample car parking space in the wooded grounds at the rear of the hotel.

Food very good and well presented with nice bar area and dining room.

Can't fault it! - well recommended having thoroughly enjoyed a nice relaxing weekend there !
