This is a peach of a hotel, with a great location just minutes from the Rail station and with a 10-15 minute walk into the city centre. The building and layout itself is great with lots of charming and cosy public rooms. Although in the annexe and small, our room was clean, well furnished and cosy, with a clean and well equipped bathroom.
The staff are brilliant, and provide top class service with a smile. The food is also top notch. We will return to the Hotel whenever we visit York.

Another perfect and faultless stay!
Moët suite. Twin baths and enormous bath. Complimentary bottle of champagne!
Welcomed back by name! Service impeccable. Packed but service in bistro first class .
The management team should be sent to other hotels in chain to show them how it's done ( see my previous disaster review for new year at Harrogate hotel du vin!).
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. Have stayed here so many times and this last stay exceeded all previous visits. Read a review which said its soulless, disagree, to be welcomed back and remembered is something I've rarely encountered in Uk chains. Ten out of ten. Will be back soon!

Fantastic room worth the money. Will certainly book this room again as my wife and i love it. We booked the package with dinner including breakfast. Twin roll top baths with champagne was a treat we simply have to do again.
Well stocked bar with a good selection of decent English Vodka's which i had fun sampling. Simon the bar manager very knowledgeable and friendly, dinner was ok but restaurant staff seemed to be more interested in clearing tables and re-setting them for a not so busy service. Had at one point go to the bar to ask for a drink myself, yes not too onerious but not what you would expect.

Room Tip: As above you get what you pay for

Stayed at this hotel at the end of January and paid a whopping £175 per night.
On arrival we were shown to our room not in the main hotel but next door in an annex, the room was nice but would have preferred to stay in the main hotel building. Did not eat in the bistro so cannot comment on it but when we were going out for an evening meal glad we did not as the place was empty. Had a goods nights sleep and in the morning went for breakfast again eating area at 9-00am was deserted, the breakfast was bad undercooked eggs, fatty bacon, cold toast etc.....overall this hotel is very overpriced and souless would not recomend and would not go back.

This hotel exceeded our expectations in almost every respect. All staff were welcoming and helpful without any formality or over-familiarity. All staff, including the cleaners seemed genuinely happy to be working there. The room was fine - we particularly liked the espresso machine with unlimited complimentary pods. Despite our room (Chateau de la Roulerie) being at the front of the hotel, it was very quiet and the bed was wonderfully comfortable, meaning a really good night's sleep. The decor was not particularly to our liking - we found the artwork (and room names) rather pretentious, but this is obviously very subjective and had no bearing on our stay.

The food was a real bonus. We ate in the restaurant on the evening of our arrival. We had not pre-booked but were immediately given a table at our chosen time. We chose the set menu which was very reasonably priced (although - beware - the prices advertised are exclusive of VAT and service). The food was really excellent quality, even the balsamic and olive oil for dipping was divine.

It is definitely worthwhile including breakfast in any stay here - the buffet was varied, fresh and had some unusual touches, such as freshly baked banana bread. We very rarely choose a cooked breakfast but could not resist the tempting menu, again with some really interesting twists on the usual offerings.
