“Perfect get away for two”
Reviewed 14 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

What a great place, tucked away down a small track in the North Yorkshire countryside. The owners Simon and Judith gave us a warm welcome with a much appreciated welcoming food and drinks pack.

The house it self is well appointed and perfect for a couple to have a relaxing few days together away from it all. It's a bird watcher and natures lovers paradise. There's deer in the woods, birds a plenty and the odd squirrel or two to keep you amused. It's surrounded by some quaint villages and is perfect for a trip to York, Thirsk or Hensley. Great if you Want a base to explore the moors or dales.

We would definitely make a return visit.

Warm welcome, very clean and comfortable, will be booking again! We did not bring a dog but the garden is enclosed which is helpful, there are wonderful views from all windows too.

“Our Tranquil stop in the Yorkshire Dales ”
Reviewed 28 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

What wonderful people (Simon and Judith our hosts) and what a well provided and comfortable cottage. The Salthouse provided us with a terrific base to drive down to the coast, visit the Studley Royal Water Gardens and Fountain Abbey or drive into the Park and Ride at Radcliffe Bar and take the bus into York (no cost for parking). Its only a short drive into Thirsk via Hutton Sessay and with a Tesco easily found in Thirsk it was easy to self cater.
Many others have stayed with Simon and Judith and all like us have had a wonderful stay with our hosts.
Highly recommended.

“Relaxing break in fantastic surroundings”
Reviewed 26 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

A fantastic couple of days in a charming cosy and tastefully decorated cottage, you will want for nothing during a stay at the Salt House, Simon and Judith kindly laid on eggs, milk, coffee, tea, homemade marmalade, butter and a gorgeous home baked loaf of bread, as well as this you were not short of any wood for the fabulous wood burner. Only wish we had longer, many many thanks Simon and Judith.

“Perfect getaway”
Reviewed 6 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

We had an absolutely amazing time at the salt house, gorgeous views and so peaceful to get away for a few days! Judith and Simon were amazing hosts, so helpful and hospitable answering all our questions and making us feel so welcome. The cottage itself is beautiful, well equipped and the log burner making it extremely cosy! It was a little more rural than I expected but nonetheless perfect for the few days away! I would 100% recommend the salt house! Thank you Judith and Simon!
