Absolutely stunning cottage with panoramic views on 3 sides. Very quiet and relaxing for a short break. We were given a friendly greeting by Judith & Simon who showed us around the cottage. There is everything you need in the cottage and it was very clean and modern. The cottage is nearer to Thirsk than York but we visited both places during the weekend. We would definitely recommend to friends & family and look forward to returning some day.
This is one of the best places we have ever stayed. It strikes a perfect balance between comfort, location, size and functionality. The decor and wonderful hospitality add to the ambience. Spotlessly clean with a well planned kitchen, a huge shower (with great pressure), space to put suitcases, a log fire and a picture perfect view out the windows make it the quintessential English stay. We used this as a base to go in every direction and nothing was too far. We thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone.
This booking was a gift for my parents. They loved the beautiful cottage, the warm welcome and the amount of things that they wanted to see in the area. I know that they are very much interested in a return visit. Thank you Judith for your warm hospitality.
What a great place, tucked away down a small track in the North Yorkshire countryside. The owners Simon and Judith gave us a warm welcome with a much appreciated welcoming food and drinks pack.
The house it self is well appointed and perfect for a couple to have a relaxing few days together away from it all. It's a bird watcher and natures lovers paradise. There's deer in the woods, birds a plenty and the odd squirrel or two to keep you amused. It's surrounded by some quaint villages and is perfect for a trip to York, Thirsk or Hensley. Great if you Want a base to explore the moors or dales.
We would definitely make a return visit.
Warm welcome, very clean and comfortable, will be booking again! We did not bring a dog but the garden is enclosed which is helpful, there are wonderful views from all windows too.
What wonderful people (Simon and Judith our hosts) and what a well provided and comfortable cottage. The Salthouse provided us with a terrific base to drive down to the coast, visit the Studley Royal Water Gardens and Fountain Abbey or drive into the Park and Ride at Radcliffe Bar and take the bus into York (no cost for parking). Its only a short drive into Thirsk via Hutton Sessay and with a Tesco easily found in Thirsk it was easy to self cater.
Many others have stayed with Simon and Judith and all like us have had a wonderful stay with our hosts.
