Came to see the Flying Scotsman and have afternoon tea as a bit of a treat. They are serving a Scottish themed selection at the moment which was all very well presented and up to the usual good standard.
The converted rail carriage is nicely laid out and decorated in Pullman styling of the 30s - 40s era.
Will definitely come again. More suited to couples or with with friends/older children.

My mum and I visited for afternoon tea, and it was the best we've ever had.
The cakes were delicious, and just the right size for two...we even managed to save a cake each to take home.
Can't fault the waitress either, chatty, friendly and attentive.

Thank you!

We had a wonderful champagne afternoon tea. The waitress Catherine was lovely and made our visit perfect. The "Flying Scotsman" afternoon tea was fabulous. What a delightful way to celebrate a birthday. Highly recommended.

As a York resident I have probably sampled every afternoon tea on offer in our beautiful City. It can be safely said that the afternoon tea sampled by my friend and I this afternoon at the Countess of York far surpasses all the rest.
The surroundings are quite exquisite, the service impeccable and the food delicious.
We truly felt as if we were in a little bubble, far away from the hustle and bustle, reminiscent of days gone by.
I would strongly recommend .
Thank you again to the delightful, knowledgeable and supremely polite waitress.
A wonderful experience.

We went here for something a bit special for a significant birthday. the décor is special (as it is a train) the service excellent and the food (afternoon tea) is very fine. Teas and coffees were very good and the cakes top notch. Nothing was too much for the girl who served us.

(PS - read the prices BEFORE you go in and this is not suitable for young children - there is no burger option)
