If low cost, microwaved and grilled food is your thing you won't be disappointed. Absolutely mediocre in every way.

Go for: sizzling steaks.

Avoid: burgers and chicken as they're pre-cooked and reheated.

We were staying in the hotel behind so had both tea and breakfast in the pub. Both meals were shocking as the sausages came that burnt they stuck to the hot plate and came burnt again the morning. I had steak for tea and asked for well done but came with blood still! I had to cut it up and leave it on my hot plate to continue to cook enough for me to eat. I would have asked for another piece but we did not have time to wait again. The best part is the price of food as it is very cheap. Would not recommend it to anyone!

Probably 3.5 or 7/10 would be a better fit. Service great food fine but could have been a little hotter and more tasty! Having said that, three mains, one coffee, two cokes, one cranberry juice and a very large portion of profiteroles for £24 can't be too bad!

We first went to this pub 3 yrs ago the last time we went to York, the food then was exemplary, so we thought we would go back on Monday night, really wish we hadnt, they had changed hands and been taken over by Sizzler, the food was rubbish. Not homemade chips, the chips we had were hard and barely warm, the burger was warm not hot, not really edible. We had a pudding which was better than the main meal and the only edible part. Would not recommend this to anyone, they really need to review what they serve

The place is nice, quite clean and good value for money on food. Although the portions has got lower in the few months the food it's still tasty and pocket friendly. I would advice it.
