We stayed here in April 2013, for three nights. This is a new, modern hotel, with very friendly and polite staff in reception and in breakfast/dinner room. The hotel is about 700 metres from The Shambles and one km from York Minster. We had a really spacious double room on the 5th floor, with a great view toward Clifford Tower. The double bed was very large and comfortable. The shower in the bathroom was’nt handy – it was fixed on the wall. Otherwise the bathroom was well equipped. We enjoyed the breakfast moments: the food was good and variable and the staff fast and competent.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a view to Clifford Tower and city centre. There are such on the upper floors.

Nice modern hotel. Lovely and clean
Only problem was we found it very noisy and thir
was down to the windows not being double glazed.
We were staying on the 1st floor at front of hotel
Could hear people chatting outside when having a ciggie
I thought our window was open, when i checked they
Were all closed! Our children found it hard getting to sleep.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at back of hotel get there soon to get a parking bay

Got a last minute hotel room here for a night away in York. The room was reasonably priced at £57 for a double room. Although it was a fairly small room there was more than enough for two people and the shower was amazing! We didn't spend much time in the hotel room as we were out and about but the location was brilliant as it was a short walk into town. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only downside is that parking is £ 10 overnight but this seems to be consistent over the city. The staff very kindly let us park until 3 the following day at no additional charge (although this was a Monday not a weekend). If you want a hotel room that is reasonable, very clean and close to centre then this hotel does the trick.

Positives - great staff, really friendly and smiley! Had dinner in the hotel (as a group) and was fine. Good location. Clean rooms.
Negatives- Room pretty standard, on a busy road and window didn't keep out street noise. Blinds didn't really keep out daylight, could really do with curtains to improve room acoustics, street noise, block daylight and make room look more luxurious/less bland. There are only 2 electric plugs in the room and no bed side lamp or bedside table.
Fine for one or two nights.
