Room was one step up from Travel Lodge except for great bed, really good king size and fantastic double sized shower. Bit noisy from club next door but not too bad. Excellent breakfast. Best thing was the lovely staff, so attentive and pleasant. Great location too. Dinner menu poor and expensive, so didn't eat here other than breakfast but lots of superb restaurants nearby.

We got a good deal through hotwire.com, was well worth the money. Lovely big double bed and a good double pull out bed for the kids. Tea and coffee in room and a decent en suite. Would recommend to anyone!

We booked a family room, which should sleep 4 but only just accomodated 3 of us. With the sofa bed extended, there was no space between the beds and only a few inches of space at the other side of the main bed. So, not much space for walking around or storing luggage but ok if you're only there for one night and not spending any time in the room. The bathroom was clean and the towels fluffly and clean. The breakfast buffet was below average quality. There are better hotels in York.

Stayed here with my girlfriend for our 1st Anniversary and wow... gorgeous hotel. Absolutely stunning!

Check-in standards just fine... Not too sure if there were any but all receptionists very friendly and willing to help. Ordered upon reservation Champagne and Roses, everything found in room as per my request. Probably the most beautiful roses ever seen in my life.

Allocated in a standard double room. Beautiful room, nothing to say everything was perfect and clean! Room size medium small. Power shower. Very modern! Like it!

Breakfast also really really good, I was well impressed once again by the staff members. Really willing to help and interact with guests which is something not very common for breakfast. I did not mind, someone else could find it a bit too much.

Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel to all my guests willing to visit York and will certainly stay here again in future. Many Thanks for all!

First stayed at this hotel 3 years ago as a group of 16 to celebrate my 50th bithday and returned for a few days break. I expected the hotel to have become jaded over the years but this was not the case. After arriving in York at 10:30 a.m. (check in is 3 p.m.) we were able to pre-register and leave our luggage in a secure room, the same procedure when we checked out, allowing us to enjoy the city of York for a few more hours. The staff are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The room was clean and although minimal this suited our needs perfectly and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean with full range of toiletries provided and the shower was powerful with plenty of hot water. OK there was no air con in the room, and while this was not a problem when we visited previously (in June) we stayed over the hottest summer days this year but this was quickly resolved when we asked for and were provided with a fan. This did the trick. We did not eat in the hotel this year as we had previously so cannot comment on the value or quality of the food. The hotel is in a great location with easy access to the city centre and tourist attractions. The cost for two nights stay room only for two adults was £167 and while this may be more than the travelodge that other reviewers have made comparisons to I think this hotel is a of a higher standard. I will definately return and would also recommend it to friends and family.

Stayed here with family on a one night stopover, we got a family room at discounted price of £85 (plus £10 to park!) which on arrival seemed a fair deal as the reception area is extremely modern and bespoke looking. We weren't allowed into room until the 3pm check in time as stated on website which gave us a couple of hours to look round the magnificent city of York. Once in the room it was small to say the least and as we were travelling with two children a little space is always appreciated, it consisted of a double bed and a sofa bed which our eldest complained of being "lumpy", next was the heat, for a modern hotel with modern furnishings I found it unusual not to have air conditioning? The window opened slightly and reception gave us a fan that sounded like a small Cessna taking off so wasn't used. Then around midnight the party noises started from somewhere to the side of the hotel and continued late into the night, followed by the arguing chav swearing his head off at 08:00 the following morning, but to be fair this isn't the hotels fault, just thought it may be worth a mention! Would I stay here again? No there are better options around York. Tip - hotel food prices are quite high use Wetherspoons across the road where most of our hotel seemed to head!

Stayed here for two days with my wife. The lift was broken for about 15 mins i was on crutches so mánager offered me a free drink while i was waiting. Staff were Excellent always eager to help. The staff could not do enough for me when they saw i was on crutches. Breakfast was excellent plenty and well cooked. Yes the was no air conditioning but fans were supplied if needed. Overall a lovely hotel thank you for making our stay a happy one we will be back.
