Went for the Country Fair and it was a full day out with enough going on to keep everyone happy for the whole day. Excellent value for money and food, drink, etc., was all a reasonable price. The hall itself is well worth a visit and the gardens delightful.

Lovely house on a par with national trust properties, though its a shame they are not a member (purely from an expense point of view. Nice garden though there are a LOT of gnomes! The kids enjoy gnome spotting, so its quite good fun!

I would also recommend the antiques and vintage fairs that are held here twice a year. They are run in the stable block as opposed to the house, and there is a good array of stuff available - I picked up a hard to find book I'd searched everywhere for!

There is also a great hog roast - the presentation is a bit rough and ready but the pork is delicious!

Lamport Hall itself is open at the same time, but there is a seperate entrance fee for the fair.

We would recommend attending one of the outdoor shows here, they are always spectacular! The grounds are beautiful.

Lamport Hall is an excellent example of the Country House which remains in the family and is now run as a commercial business to help with its vast maintenance costs. It is a little smaller than some of the other well-known properties but it is truly worth a visit for the wealth of interior decorations, such as original panel paintings, a collection of drawings, wall panelling and other architectural details. Set on a hill with beautifully laid out gardens which are also open to the public in the summer months, it commands wonderful views of the surrounding Northamptonshire countryside, so it is a perfect spot for a walk or a picnic.

A pleasant house, nicely presented but not of real interest although the staff were very helpful and well informed about the property and its history.
