Visited Cottesbrooke Hall & Gardens on a beautiful sunny day last week, we arrived at 2pm when they opened and booked ourselves on the House tour for 2.30. We were really looking forward to seeing the sporting art having an interest in flat racing, however we were unable to view the art in depth as the tour was just 45 minutes which was not really long enough.
This is not a criticism of our guide Sue as she really knew her stuff and did her best within the time constraints. The parts of the house we were shown were nice and had a homely feel, with some nice pieces of furniture and lots of equine pictures.
After the tour we went to the little tea room and had a cup of tea and a VERY small portion of cake which was half the size of the cake portions we had at Kelmarsh Hall the previous week.
Next we went round the gardens which were lovely especially the wild garden which had little paths meandering through it and was so peaceful, for the weary there were the odd bench to sit down and soak up the beauty.
We paid £7.00 each (concession) for the house and gardens and felt it was good value compared to some historic houses. I would have scored 5 but for the rushed guided tour.
