“Hidden Gem in Northants”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

Visited Cottesbrooke Hall & Gardens on a beautiful sunny day last week, we arrived at 2pm when they opened and booked ourselves on the House tour for 2.30. We were really looking forward to seeing the sporting art having an interest in flat racing, however we were unable to view the art in depth as the tour was just 45 minutes which was not really long enough.
This is not a criticism of our guide Sue as she really knew her stuff and did her best within the time constraints. The parts of the house we were shown were nice and had a homely feel, with some nice pieces of furniture and lots of equine pictures.
After the tour we went to the little tea room and had a cup of tea and a VERY small portion of cake which was half the size of the cake portions we had at Kelmarsh Hall the previous week.
Next we went round the gardens which were lovely especially the wild garden which had little paths meandering through it and was so peaceful, for the weary there were the odd bench to sit down and soak up the beauty.
We paid £7.00 each (concession) for the house and gardens and felt it was good value compared to some historic houses. I would have scored 5 but for the rushed guided tour.

“Well Worth The Visit...Beautiful Wild Garden”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014

Having joined the HHA (free entry) three months ago my wife and I decided to visit Cottesbrooke on the way back home after having gone to Barkers shoe factory in Northampton and found it well worth the visit. We arrived and were given a ticket time to have the tour (approx 45 mins) so having 30 mins to wait we had a cup of tea and cake (cake only,no other food) sitting outside in the courtyard and then entered the hall with approx 12 other people and enjoyed the informative tour.
The herbaceous borders, pool garden, secret garden, herb garden and especially the wild garden along the stream were well worth the visit.

For non members the admission is Adult £8.00 House and Gardens (£5.50 Garden only) Child 5-14 £4.50 (£3.50) Concession £7.00 (£5.00)
Open Thursday on July/August/September and Bank Holiday Mondays May-September at 2-5.30p.m.

Spent a very relaxing and lovely morning here in early June. The gardens are glorious. There is a small restaurant which serves lovely lunches, sandwiches, quiche etc. Nice little gift shop. Well worth a visit.

“Go on a lovely day and take your time enjoying the gardens”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

Visited in May 2014 on a Bank Holiday Monday, we were lucky with the weather which encouraged us to walk the gardens, which were lovely. I am not a great garden fan/expert but these were so welcoming, they were a delight to walk around exploring. And, as other people have said, don’t miss the wild garden. The house tour was interesting, the equestrian paintings are the main item on the tour and the views from the house were enchanting. A pot of tea with one and half cups of tea in and smallish slice of cake was £3.25.

“Tranquility at its best”

A most relaxing and tranquil stroll around beautifully laid out gardens. A garden with rooms all offering a different experience. The sun shone and really made the afternoon very special. The Hallbwas interesting too and worth a visit.
