Love this restaurant - been going here for over 10 years and its always fantastic. When we first started going we would go on a Friday or Saturday and order off the normal menu and it was quite pricey but well worth it! Then we discovered the sunday set menu which is something like £12 and you get a great selection. Its all cooked fresh and brought to the table and you can ask for more food. When my now husband first moved down to Northants I took him here and he loved it - needless to say all his family has been and cant believe the amount of food and quality you get....

Sadly we have now moved away but managed to sneak a visit here at the start of the year and it really doesnt change. The starters and duck pancakes are amazing.

i have been to the Imperial several times and every time is an absolute delight. i would definitely recommend the imperial duck; its amazing. when you order the starters, they bring out one portion for each person at the table, so be mindful when ordering or you that may not make it to the mains (not i have ever had too many starters....)

I have eaten here many times and is great value. We usually go with friends and order from the "all you can eat menu". We tend to order 2 starters each and then have the duck and pancake course and that fills us up but you can continue with a main course if you have room.
The restaurant itself is in bad need of a refurb as it has been untouched decor wise for quite sometime. The ladies toilets rather let it down also as they are downstairs and after a few drinks and high heels, quite treacherous, and again in bad need of decoration.
Despite the surroundings though I can't fault the food and as it is in the centre of town ideal for a good feed before continuing on a night out.
The only reason I couldn't give it a better rating is because of the interior which could put some people off eating here as first impressions count.

First visit to this restaurant and the occasion was a friend's 40th. There were 16 of us and we had a preordered set meal. I can only describe it as a feast! Top quality delicious food and excellent service. Some unusual dishes too like whole filleted sea bass cooked and also a mid course of lobster served on Singapore noodles. It was perfect for the occasion. Can't comment on what it would be like for a more intimate dinner but I shall be returning to find out!

Went here for my birthday today and I don't usually write reviews but felt that I need to let others know about how disappointed we have been... Staff were very slow and not really very friendly, each time we had finished a course they'd take our dishes and not offer to take out order for our next course but instead would go off and not come back for ages, if at all, so each time we had to get the attention of one of the waiting staff to ask to order... I think this is a ploy as the longer they can string it out the less hungry you'd be (as it takes 20 mins for your stomach to register food and therefore feel fuller quicker). The food was of medioka quality with the chicken of a strange soft and uncooked consistency... And to top it off when we ordered mains (and despite us ordering from the 'all you can eat' menu) The waitress appeared annoyed at the amount we wanted to order saying that it was too much, meaning we took off a few dishes, this made is feel very awkward and not at all impressed...not quite the all you can eat we'd hoped for!!!
