“Convenient for Barclaycard office and good for nothing else”
Reviewed 2 January 2014

Located in walking distance of the main Barclaycard office so has significant business from there, otherwise this has nothing going for it. The Hilton is a few minutes away down dual carriageways and is significantly cheaper for pretty much the same experience. This soulless concrete block charges premium prices and does not deliver a premium product. the Park inn is central to town so has more going on in the evening around it and is around half the price - but slightly lower standard and the Ibis is central but VERY cheap/cheerful.

I stayed for three days on a package deal and quite enjoyed it. The rooms are good and the catering was fairly decent. All staff that I met were pleasant to deal with. I had a minor issue with my bathroom and I noticed some small lapses with the service at a couple of busy meal times, so only four out of five this time. I enjoyed a couple of walks around the lake at the back of the hotel though I needed my walking boots as it was quite muddy underfoot. Overall a good experience at the Marriott.

Thoroughly enjoyed our Boxing Day courtesy of Bec, Louise and all the staff at the Marriott. They couldn't have been more welcoming. Lovely food, comfy bed and room. Super day and overnight stay. Thanks to all who worked so hard!

Had our works Christmas Party night here and it was rubbish.
The soup was luke warm and bland, the dinner consisted of 3 marble size frozen Brussels, 4 sticks of carrot the size of matches, 2 small frozen roast potatoes, 2 thin slices of turkey the size of beer mats and hidden under it was a table spoon of mash potato and an oxo cube size bit of stuffing all topped off with a drizzle of cold gravy! The Christmas pudding was the size of an ice cream scoop and had a couple of spoons of cold custard on it. The quality of the food was very poor and I would have been embarrassed to serve it to my worst enemy. As for the coffee, you had to walk out into the hall and pour it yourself from a trolley. There was one bottle of white wine and one red on the table between 9 people and drinks at the bar were expensive. The entertainment is just a disco with a dance floor with not enough room to swing a cat on. All this for £30 a head!

Stayed with family for 1 night for the Leinster v Northampton match. We got a great room (131) with the bonus of a big jacuzzi bath. The staff were very nice. We had lunch in the bar area which was liked by everyone. A bit pricey but acceptable. Breakast buffet in the morning was lovely with a big selection. The hotel is on the outskirts of Northampton so you either need to drive yourself or get a taxi into the town centre. I would stay here again.

Stayed here for one night for a surprise family birthday party. The welcome and assistance we received from the reception staff was second to none, they assisted us in arranging a taxi, and couldn't do enough to help us. The room was spotless and the bathroom immaculate, the bed was very comfortable and breakfast was lovely. Would definitely recommend and would stay again if in the area

Lovely warm and welcoming reception . Although on the grounds of the Delapre Golf Course does not have the feel of the usual golf hotel. Large (free) car park directly outside of reception. (Check reception for code for exit barrier before leaving though) Good quality furnishing and lighting. Accommodation is on ground and first floor, no lifts only stairs. Our only gripe was the long and winding corridor to a room which could not be further away... room 280.. (unless you were in 282) Room was clean , cosy, well equipped, shower over bath .Iron and ironing board, also a safe inside wardrobe.Tea & coffee tray and a nice touch - additional styrofoam cups with lids for coffee to take away.TV with further viewing options via clearly priced plans. We ate dinner on first night at the hotel and had invited additional guests . All meals very good, prices in keeping with hotel restaurant and bar but not overpriced. Service excellent. Caters mostly it seems for the corporate sector although breakfast served until quite late from 6.30 am until 11 am and really good selection of cereals , fruits, yoghurts, croissants and full english. Again that excellent service, and important for me .. large pot of coffee. Tip: book breakfast at check-in and save £6 per person @ £9.95 instead of the usual £15.95. Sadly did not get time to use the Leisure Club with swimming pool, will do next visit. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Northampton. Map of local area available from reception... which is by the way manned by the most professional, friendly and helpful staff who work very hard at making your stay so comfortable. Thank you Marriott.

Room Tip: Ask for a room nearest to reception to avoid long corridors.
