“Nice but expensive”
Reviewed 12 April 2013

A lovely farm, very clean and the animals look extremely well cared for. Great that you can get in with them and be very hands on. The 'playbarn' I found a bit soulless and the cafe is not good so definitely take your own food (they have no problem with you doing this). Not a cheap visit though - for 3 adults and a toddler nearly £25 and we were there about an hour and a half. On a sunny day you would get better value because you would stay outside longer, perhaps with a picnic.

“A Truly Wonderful Experience for the Children”
Reviewed 11 April 2013

Although this place is actually a little gem of a find, they do have a rather strange admission charge policy in my opinion. Why charge more for adults than children in a place where quite obviously the children are the target audience? Then to give only a 50p discount off the adult price to children irrespective of their age, did seem a tad greedy. However, that aside and, apart from the cafe, which offers nothing more than a fairly scant and uninteresting selection of pre-packed cakes, biscuits and sandwiches, the rest of what the place offers more than made up for these shortcomings.

My two grandsons who accompanied me, one five and the other two played for ages on the indoor soft play area, which is quite large and obviously great fun if you're of a certain age! Despite the fact that it was a chilly day and this "playbarn" is under cover, the proprietors had decided not to heat it today so it was marginally warmer than outside, but not much! The hot chocolate and coffee my daughter and I drank while the boys were having high jinks, was at best mediocre. Moral - bring your own picnic as there are loads of tables both inside and out and many of today's visitors had obviously learned this lesson before!

It was the outside attractions which really skyrocketted my opinion of this place though. First port of call on exiting the playbarn is the pets corner where rabbits, guinea pigs, goats, sheep and sundry other small animals and birds abound - but the best bit is that most of the pens are open for children and adults to enter and stroke the animals. The boys absolutely adored the baby goats which were a matter of days old and the enormous lop-eared rabbits, spending much time stroking them.

Then on to the very extensive and by the look of it, new adventure playground with rope ladders, obstacle courses, swings, slides et al. Again, this kept the boys occupied for what seemed like hours. There is also an extensive "field/paddock" area where cows, horses and other farm animals can be viewed at close quarters. The pedal go-karts are also a must for the kids.

Well worth a visit, but remember to pack your own food!
