the staff of the hopping hare were welcoming and very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is very tastfully decorated and the rooms are extremely comfortable, and the food is well presented and delicious.

We stayed at the Hopping Hare this weekend for my parents wedding anniversary. We had a meal in the evening with family and friends and the staff were so attentive and helpful. The food is fantastic and came as a real surprise, it was more inventive and gastro pub than you would expect. We stayed the night and the room we had was really large and had all the amenities you would expect in a more expensive hotel. The bed was slightly smaller than we are used to, but if that is the only thing we can think of that could be improved, you'll realise how much we enjoyed our stay.

We stayed one night as part of a wedding party and our room cost £85.00, which for the quality of service offered, is over-priced.

We arrived at a pre-arranged time of 10.00 am to be welcomed by the rather odious smell of stale food. We had rather a lot of luggage, as we had spent a few days travelling elsewhere before arriving at the HH and having checked in, were surprised that there was no offer of assistance to help us with our baggage to our room, on the first floor. The room was difficult to find through a maze of doors, stairs and corridors and the journey made even more difficult by the lack of assistance with the cases. The room was lovely, clean, beautifully decorated, comfortable and well equipped, apart from the coffee provided which could be of a better quality than standard Nescafe instant, a sachet of something of a superior quality would not cost a fortune.

We discovered during the wedding reception, held elsewhere, that we should have been informed by reception that we were requested by the Bride and Groom to breakfast at 9.00 am the following day. Thankfully one of the other guests had been informed and told us.
Breakfast was not was not a huge success, I had smoked salmon and scrambled egg, the egg was very dry and rubbery, the salmon too salty and there was no butter available for my toast, which was laid on the side of my plate and not served separately in a toast rack and therefore soggy on the underside. My husband ordered a full English with no beans or tomatoes and scrambled egg and got a full English with tomato and poached eggs five minutes after I had received my breakfast, I therefore had to eat before him, which I would never normally do but I didn’t wish to add cold food to my list of complaints. My belief is that they were just too busy to cope with the volume of orders all at 9.00 am. Perhaps the management should refuse requests for same time breakfasts if they cannot offer a good service to all. No separate toast was offered to anybody on our table, should we have liked some toast and marmalade, to follow our cooked breakfast.

We do not live in the UK and during our regular visits we often stay in this type of establishment, but sadly the Hopping Hare will not be on our list for the future.

Trying to find a hotel for us and our wedding guests we contacted the hopping hare. Ther were very helpful, showed us around and offered a discount on everyone booking in our party. The rooms were fantastic, extremely clean and the decor is amazing- each room slightly different. However the next morning the staff were extremely rude. We had organised to have breakfast at 9.30am but they were not ready, which wasnt a problem but there were not enough tables so my parents ended up in a different room. The waitresses taking our breakfast orders were extremely rude and miserable. Some of the orders came out wrong and when we explained why, they got even more rude. When it came to paying the bill, they overcharged everyone even whilst the manager, David George (who gave us the tour and discounts) stood there. Some people noticed and managed to get a refund. Others didnt realise and got charged an extra £20! They are still in the process of trying to claim it back. The hotel is great but don't expect much hospitality

As the owner of the Hopping Hare I have investigated this review very carefully as constructive criticism is very important to me.

Firstly, I am very pleased that our guests were very complimentary about our bedrooms and in particular with the cleanliness of our rooms and the quality of the decor. We try and provide the highest quality in everything we do.

Secondly, I would like to apologise that everything had not gone quite as smoothly as I would have liked for breakfast on Sunday morning.

Having investigated fully I believe that in a way we tried to be overly helpful and the plans we had agreed were a little too restrictive. The pre-agreed plan was for our 32 wedding guests to have breakfast with exclusive use of our conservatory restaurant with 4 tables of 8 set up and for all guests to breakfast together at 9.30am. Our other hotel guests had breakfast in our contemporary lounge area. In the event some guests arrived early at 9am and became upset when it was suggested they might want to wait for the other guests, so guests were then served breakfast as they arrived. Unsurprisingly, they also spread themselves out over the 4 pre-set tables so there were three odd spaces for the last 3 guests who I am assured were quite happy to breakfast in our lounge. I am also assured that there were no complaints about the quality of our breakfasts, indeed only praise for the quality of our produce.

As regards overcharging, the discount that had been agreed was unfortunately not loaded on to our system and this was an error at our end. This was noticed when guests were checking out and the correct rate was applied at the time of check-out with the exception of 2 guests who had left and a credit was posted onto their credit cards immediately.

Whilst there was some confusion I am assured that staff were not rude to any customers. I am confident that all our staff make every effort to give fantastic customer service and feedback from customers is usually very complimentary. We have an anonymous customer feedback and scoring system and our scores are always very high.

Thank you for this feedback. I am sorry that a few guests complained and certainly lessons have been learnt for catering for breakfast parties in the future.

We stayed at the Hopping Hare hotel and restaurant in August 2011 while travelling down south to Dover to catch our cruise. The hotel itself is very modern and the rooms are very well decorated and appointed. We had two rooms - both of which were fantastic. The bathrooms had excellent showers and the whole experience was fantastic.

We chose the 'dine & stay' option, where you receive a reduced rate if you eat in the restaurant. The menu looked and tasted delicious. On the first night, the restaurant was incredibly busy, but the manager/assistant was kind enough to offer us delicious baked breads while we waited. The food was brilliant and was excellent.

All-in-all, this is a fantastic little hotel with a brilliant restaurant and excellent staff who make your more than welcome.

I am most pleased to hear that we have succeeded in delivering the high qualities and standards that we strive to.

I would like to thank you on behalf of the owners and staff for the lovely compliments that you have made about The Hopping Hare and also let you know that all feedback is welcomed to help us improve our services to you; our guests.

All of our hotel accommodation is finished to a high level throughout with small but recognisable personal touches, one of these being our dual head rainfall/power shower in the new wing of our building.
If you are in the area again on your travels do visit again and make yourself known to the managers.

Once again many thanks for taking the time to comment on your enjoyable stay.

We booked four nights whilst attending the World Superbikes at Silverstone. Location was about 25 minutes from Silverstone.
The welcome we received was warm and friendly and all the staff were very pleasant, helpful and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. The Chef provided us with excellent meals, can recommend the Seafood Starter on the Fish Night equally the Sunday Roast was delicious.
The hotel was spotless throughout and our room was clean, comfortable, relaxing and I would be happy to book room 3 again. Although it was on the front of the Hotel, noise from the hotel or nearby road was not an issue, we were never disturbed.
Breakfast at weekends is usually served from 9am which was a small problem for us as we needed to be leaving the Hotel at around 7:30am. Perhaps if a continental breakfast could be prepared the evening before to be left in your room may solve this problem.
In all despite having read negative comments the week previous to arriving, I wonder if there is another Hopping Hare up the road because we have nothing but praise for this hotel, the Manager and all the Staff. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. Sharon and Paul Walker

Thankyou so much for letting us show you everything we our not about that one unfair review you read. As we told you we all were deeply upset on how untrue the whole thing was and we our delighted that now you have stayed with us u have formulated our own opini. We always aim for the highest level of service and to provide a clean, comfortable and relaxing stay and we are pleased that we have not failed you. Regarding the continental breakfast we have trailed this way and from this we have found it to be unsuccesful we dont have the facilities i.e fridge in room to provide the continetal breakfast.room service. Once again we are very grateful that you took the time to reaserch us in more detail and find out what we are really about. Hope to see you again in the near future and thankyou for taking the time out of your day to write this fair , honest reveiw. If your are ever in the area again let us no and we can sort something out for you ,

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
When my family bought the Hopping Hare in 2006 our aim was to create an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, somewhere just a bit different. A place to dine, stay or meet up and relax with friends, family or colleagues. We didn't want it to be stuffy, intimidating or over the top. We set about creating luxurious rooms, a subtle, sophisticated bar with a great selection of quality drinks and a restaurant offering some of the best food to be found in Northampton. As a family owned and operated business, we set the standards on service, value for money, atmosphere and personality. No detail has been overlooked in creating a hotel, restaurant and bar in Northampton with an individual blend of 21st-century chic, high standards and a laid back friendly feel that we are sure you'll begin to notice as soon as you step inside. We've got to know some of our guests well because they come back time after time. In fact, 2010 saw the completion of an extension to the hotel to meet increased demand for accommodation from a growing clientele. My team and I would love to welcome you to stay for brunch, lunch, dinner or just a drink. Once the Hopping Hare is on your radar we guarantee you'll be back.
