I stayed at here in March 2013, and overall the stay was just 'OK'.
The room was spacious and very nicely decorated, but there was nothing 'overly special' about it which I had expected from the price tag (£85 for one night, single person).
The room had all the expected amenities - TV, hairdryer (attached to desk so you can't steal - nice to know they trust their customers!), one shampoo and one body wash (and my room hadn't been cleaned properly so I got the remanents of someone elses toiletries too!). There's a kettle with 2 teabags (and no more!), coffee and hot chocolate, and the bed is relatively comfy. Iron/ironing boards available upon request.
My room was located on the ground floor which is adjacent to, and below the stairs to all the other bedrooms; consequently there was quite a bit of noise (although I'm a deep sleeper so it didn't bother me that much).
In essence, would recommend for a one-night stay to friends/business, but not for a break or romantic getaway, or those on a budget. The hotel overall isn't worth the stupid price-tag.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- When my family bought the Hopping Hare in 2006 our aim was to create an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, somewhere just a bit different. A place to dine, stay or meet up and relax with friends, family or colleagues. We didn't want it to be stuffy, intimidating or over the top. We set about creating luxurious rooms, a subtle, sophisticated bar with a great selection of quality drinks and a restaurant offering some of the best food to be found in Northampton. As a family owned and operated business, we set the standards on service, value for money, atmosphere and personality. No detail has been overlooked in creating a hotel, restaurant and bar in Northampton with an individual blend of 21st-century chic, high standards and a laid back friendly feel that we are sure you'll begin to notice as soon as you step inside. We've got to know some of our guests well because they come back time after time. In fact, 2010 saw the completion of an extension to the hotel to meet increased demand for accommodation from a growing clientele. My team and I would love to welcome you to stay for brunch, lunch, dinner or just a drink. Once the Hopping Hare is on your radar we guarantee you'll be back.
