Description: Situated in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside 2 miles from Althorp House, the ancestral home of Diana, Princess of Wales. A traditional village inn with character and charm. We are a privately owned and run free house with a selection of well kept real ales and lagers plus an extensive wine list. Runners-up in the Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards 2009. A great place to spend a lunchtime or evening.

I've never contributed to tripadvisor before so I must be feeling strongly to take the trouble !
As a family we have had two really enjoyable midweek evenings here in the last couple of weeks.
We sat outside the pub and on both occasions had two really good meals. A very original menu and cooked with obviously a lot of thought and effort.
The staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful.
Highly recommended.

Thank Nick C

Really great vegetarian food by someone who understands we like to eat well ( not just cheese!). This was a rare occasion where I didn't feel that I could've cooked something better / more healthy at home. Very friendly and good value, I only wish it was closer to home!

We had checked the reviews for a family celebration and thought this was worth a try. We were not disappointed. The have a wide "pub" menu but mains are served in full and half sizes which suited some of our older diners. Good beers and helpful staff all served in a pleasant environment.
Just one recommendation, please change the disinfectant you use to something scent free as the smell overwhelms the entrance and gives a bad impression - but good to know you have cleaned!

I struggle to understand what some people expect from their visits when I read some reviews.
We recently moved back to Northampton and having had a really great local we were keen to find pubs that had atmosphere, character, friendliness, great home cooked food and a good range of beers served properly. We had heard about The Saracens and popped in one Sunday lunchtime. We hadn't booked for lunch and were happy to take
their offer of a table in the bar. The service was impeccable and well organised. Everyone knows what jobs they have. The service is professional and friendly. The Sunday Roasts were wonderful. They weren't cheap but not too expensive either. The pub has all the attributes we were looking for but it isn't close enough to where we live. All the customers seemed to be enjoying their day. The atmosphere was relaxed. There is a selection of daily papers, and a lovely pub dog. We have since taken friends and sat in the garden with a portion of Moules Mariniere to share. The service was just as good, as was the atmosphere. We will be back again
