“Well worth a visit”

Amazing to walk along such an ancient monument and imagine the people who built it and used it. I aim to walk along the length of it next year if I can!

“Cool!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2014

A pretty cool but of history. It's no great wall of China but very impressive to think about when and how the wall was built. If your into hiking then it's great to follow through the hills in Northumberland.

“Housesteads Roman Fort and Vindolanda”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

What a great day out, visited Vindolanda in morning then went just down the road to Homestead Roman fort. Vindolanda is a site still under excavation and worker are happy to discuss findings with you on day, museum is a must see, fascinating displays also has a nice clean tearoom . Just down the road at Homestead you can view the wall and it has wonderful vistas and nice spot for a picnic if weather s fine.

“brilliant place to visit.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

Hard to find the wall elsewhere as this is right next to the Roman settlement. We enjoyed seeing how it has played and important role in our history. The tea room was friendly and the cakes were great. They allowed our dogs in too which was a bonus.

“Hadrian's Wall”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

We didn't pay to go inside the Homesteads Fort and Museum but instead climbed up the hill to Hadrian's wall outside the fort. We were able to walk along the top of the wall for quite a distance and then walk along some more of it including one of the gates for the wall. It was one of the highlights of our trip and was so excited to not only see this but walk on it also. This is the best spot to see a good portion of the wall that still stands - and is free.
