We booked last minute, accommodated in a beautiful room overlooking the high Street. It was beautifully renovated and appointed to a very high standard. We had a meal in the bar, service was good and the chef took the time to come out of a very busy kitchen to enquire if all was well, nice touch. The meal was ALL home cooked and delicious. In all the meal, service and room were enough to encourage us to make the one hour journey worthwhile and we are booked in again in May!

Room Tip: Well placed to explore Northumberland, fabulous area. Room 5 is lovely.

I don't even know where to start.... As we walked up to the entrance the exeterior looked pleasant but the door which is an old fashion revolving door not only looked out of place but unkept, trying to get through it was an experience. It barely fit one person in. Upon entering The County the interior was beautifully done and you could tell where the money had been spent on referbushiment. There was no one to greet us or direct us to a table, it was a case of musical chairs. We went to the bar to order some drinks which we found the bar staff rude and lacking of customer service skills. We found a table a began to look through the menu, the menu it's self seemed to have a good selection of dishes but on closer inspection was very vague with side dishes, how the food is prepared e.g. How it was cooked and if it still had bones in, again there was no one to take your order or where to place it. The food it's self didn't take long to arrive, approximatetly 20 minutes. The presentation of the dishes could of been better. We found that the fish was barely edible. It was full of bones and the whole plate was covered in salt. The chips were not chips as they stated they were potato wedges. The vegetables were undercooked and not buttered. I am extremely disappointed and will never be going back again.

The County Hotel has just under gone extensive renovations and what a wonderful conversion the furnishings are beautiful and so relaxed the staff are welcoming and attentive. I took a friend for afternoon tea to celebrate her birthday and as i had been just before christmas i knew what to expect , the tea was beautifully presented and all fresh and home made with a good selection of sandwiches scones and dainty cakes . i will be taking my mum for a birthday treat next month.

Been in a few times since it opened and you can now clearly the transformation it has taken. Service had improved 100%. This is now by far the best place to come in Hexham. Excellent service and great food. Will definitely recommend to friends and family and will continue to come here when in Hexham

I stayed at the County on Saturday night of last week with my wife - we were in room number 5.

Our stay was fantastic. We were in Hexham for a friends 40th birthday and we booked the County on a whim, thinking that we really just needed somewhere to sleep. From the minute we walked in the revolving doors at the front however, it was clear that we were in for something a bit more! We were offered a warm, friendly welcome, checked in and shown to our rooms. Although the rooms are not spacious, they are extremely well furnished. The bathroom was spotless and the shower was absolutely excellent. The room was of a very high standard indeed.

We went for a quick drink in the bar, which we found to be pleasant, well priced and cosy! All in all, we had a great time and felt that in terms of price - the County was very good value for money.

Room Tip: We were in Room 5 and it was clean, quiet and comfy.

On arriving late on Wednesday night 22nd Jan, we where met by Nicki at the bar on asking for a twin room she politely said we can have two double rooms for a really great rate so decided to take the offer and we certainly did not regret it the place is lovely the food excellent and the bar and staff made our stay a very happy one and we will have no qualms in returning when next in the area, the Rooms are spotless warm comfortable and with a hearty breakfast served by Nicki who again made us feel welcome it is a must visit for anyone when staying in the area.

My wife and I had a couple of nights here over the Christmas period. It was a good experience: quality new decor, excellent service, good bar, super cooked breakfast. We had one of the larger rooms overlooking the street, and my tip for light sleepers would be - get back to the hotel after the last drinkers have been ejected from the bar!
