Had an amazing day at Slaley Hall. Massage was first class, and afternoon at Dukes Grill was lovely. A very attentive tea expert and waitress who were lovely. Fab day with beautiful views. Shame we hadn@t booked an overnight stay.

Stayed here for our honeymoon which was spoilt by a sub standard evening meal in the Dukes Grill. Had the lobster which was terrible. More meat in the pot which caught it. Complained and the French restaurant manager was very good. The grounds were excellent especially the woods.
If you are going here for a special treat then avoid Friday and Saturday. The hotel is a golfing complex and the atmosphere takes a spiral fall from relaxation to a male jungle where you are measured by the size of your driver. Horrible feel to the place Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Overall Monday to Thursday is fantastic both outside and inside the hotel.
A note of caution. If you intend to use the sauna area take your flipflops as the shower area is disgraceful. Seen cleaner in local swimming pools.

We stayed in villa 3 which was set out over 4 levels with 4 large bedrooms , three bathrooms , lounge, large kitchen/ dining room and even a sauna. The place was fantastic with stunning views over Northumberland from the lounge , balcony and master bedroom. The place was huge and even had a patio at the back as well as a garden. Each lodge also comes with a golf buggy for getting around the resort (extra charge). Definitely the best de vere lodge we have stayed at.
The lodges and hotel are set in 1000 acres so there is plenty to explore plus you have the benefit of being able to use all hotel facilities inc pool and gym and several bars and restaurants.
Hoping to return again very soon

Room Tip: If you want to use a buggy take your drivers licence

Spent a few days at a lodge with in laws. It was huge, every room had plenty of space. Didn't try the sauna or whirlpool bath. Lodge needed some work done to it, eg new door and shower. Having the golf buggy was a nice perk. Remember and take your driving licence if you want to use it. Hotel itself nice. Ate once in the evening and it was good and service quick. Had afternoon tea which was OK given the price. Also had breakfast one day which was a bit disappointing for a 5 star hotel. There was a lack of choice. The pool area is nice although changing rooms could've been done with more cleaning. Also take your own shampoo, conditioner and shower gel as they only have big standard liquid soap dispenser. The grounds are massive and lots of nice scenery to take in on a walk or a drive with your buggy. Would recommend but definitely more 4 star rather than 5 star.

Booked as there was a special deal on. Visited Feb 2013 but couldn't select. With the deal you got a bottle of wine with the room. The room was nice, spacious and luxurious. We were lucky in that if you didn't mind having your dinner at 6pm you got a free bottle of wine. Of course we went for dinner at 6pm, however a suggestion of a couple of drinks in the bar afterwards turned out to be more expensive than the whole trip!

As it was my birthday I thought I'd treat myself to a nice a vodka and coke (grey goose) this cost me £14! Next round I went with the house vodka (thinking it would be cheaper) this cost me £12!

Slaley is a lovely place set in lovely grounds but I get the feeling it is too pretentious!!! I would visit again but that would be only if they had a deal on, I would not pay full price.

What a lovely hotel! The staff are brilliant, nothing is too much trouble, would definitely recommend if you want to get away from it all and relax

Andrew in the restaurant made us feel very much at home and the lady in the bar couldnt have been friendlier. Any member of staff we asked were all so helpful...such a nice ambience, so different from a lot of hotels today, who take your money and run!

We booked a week in lodge 25 via THE TIMESHARE MART who I have to say were very helpful with good communication and overall level of service.
The Lodge is a 3 bedroom situated in the grounds of De Vere Slaley Hall resort so we had use of the spa and a golf buggy during our stay.
The lodge has everything you need including televisions, cooking facilities,3 toilets, sauna and Jacuzzi. The furniture is of a high standard with comfy warm beds ensuring a comfortable nights sleep.
We took our bicycles and also enjoyed many walks through the beautiful countryside around the Hexham area.
A negative is not getting entry to the lodge until after 4pm then having to exit by 10am.
I can see why some owners have complained about the lodge maintenance charges as there are some jobs that need doing that aren't getting done to make the resort 5 star.
We stayed at the De Vere Carrick lodges last year and Slaley Hall although very good is not at the same standard.
I would recommend the accommodation to friends and family so give it a go.

Room Tip: The hotel restaurant prices are expensive
