“Heart of all England; a classic pub both Hexham and England can be proud of.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 October 2012

We had a few days in Hexham visiting friends who took us to the Heart of all England pub for lunch saying it had recently changed changed ownership and was well worth a visit.
Oak paneling, real ale, traditional food with a touch of class. We had oak smoked haddock, spring onion mash with buttered sauce and wilted spinach lovely and a couple of pints of black sheep, perfect.
We're going back in December and have booked the four of us in for the Christmas Special as a thankyou to our friends The Heart Of All England is as good as it sounds a classic pub both Hexham and England can be proud of.

“what a disappointment !!!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2012

What a disappointment!!!!! i have visited this pub on many occasions on this trip i was disappointed to find that it is trying to be a high class eating establishment and not a market town pub as it has always been while the food was good i sensed an atmosphere within the pub and was not greeted by the locals as i have always been in the past i then learned that most do not frequent the pub like they used to there was less choice of drinks this visit also the decor has remained the same as it has been for many years which i think adds to the charm i was shocked however to find that the ladies toilets have been wallpapered over tiles with the use of 2 different wallpapers the place needs a really good clean by professionals i did happen to mention that i had seen the reviews to 1 customer and they responded they are all by friends and the odd regular and when looking on social network sites most but not all do seem to be friends of the couple running the heart 1 final comment change the name the heart has been ripped out of this pub !!!

“Fantastic hosts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 September 2012

Mine hosts Loraine and Mark are doing their best to bring to life a once desolate backwater of Hexham. Make no mistakes Mark is a quality chef and Loraine is a good host. Excellent food and good beer, give it a try and give them a chance.

“Really good food in a quirky looking pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 September 2012

My wife an I ate here for our lunch I had fish and chips and she had corned beef hash.
Both were really nice and the chips were exceptional. To cap it off had a decent pint of Flying Scotsman. Will definitley go back.

“High Expectations”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 September 2012

My wife and decided to go here on a random visit, in which I have been before but a long time ago.

On arrival it was 1215 sunday afternoon, to my surprise it was empty. Food (1 chicken & 1pork sunday lunch) arrived approx 30 mins after ordering we couldn't work out why it took so long. The portions were of a respected size, but very dry,not enough gravy.

The decor in the pub was zero, there wasn't a style of what it was meant to represent, badly in need of restoration to its former glory.

Not sure if we'll make to 60 mile round trip in a hurry.
