Owner description: Lying in magnificent countryside next to a sweeping section of Hadrian's Wall and based at the site of Carvoran Roman Fort, the Roman Army Museum is an authentic and dramatic tribute to Rome’s extraordinary military legacy. Step into the life of a Roman soldier and experience life on the front line of Emperor Hadrian’s formidable British frontier. Explored through reconstructions, objects excavated along Hadrian's Wall and the Vindolanda Trust’s inspiring interpretations of army life including the exclusive 3D Edge of Empire film, the museum pays unforgettable homage to Rome's military accomplishments in Britain.

We enjoyed the movie that shows the fly over of the wall and what it looked like when built, and there were some very interesting artifacts. Worth it if you have time and buy the ticket that gets you Vindolanda and the museum. If you are short on time, recommend skipping.

We went to Vindolanda last year and this really brought the whole experience to life.

This little museum brought the Roman Army to life. We visited it after Vindolanda and prior to Housesteads. I enjoyed the 3D film and learning to write my name using Roman letters. We are seniors, but I saw children having fun. We bought the combination ticket with Vindolanda.

Very interesting, especially the 3D film.
The museum brings the area's history together in a very entertaining way. The little touches such as the class room is a great idea and when the rain is lashing down horizontally, its a great place to go.

Just by luck we visited this small, well thought out museum prior to visiting Vindolanda and Housesteads Forts and we were so glad we did. The use of videos along with the displays really brings to life the Roman Army and I would say it is a must-do prior to visiting the Forts which are really ruins, as it brings them to life in a way that would not have been the same if we had not visited this Museum. You can buy a combo ticket for this and Vindolanda which I would highly recommend. There was a group of school kids there when we visited and they seemed to really enjoy it as well, it's very entertaining and not dry at all.
